An Impact Compactor, Compaction System and a Method of Obtaining Soil Strength
The invention relates to an impact compactor (10) and to a method and system of obtaining an indication of the soil strength of soil (100) by using an impact compactor (10). The impact compactor (10) includes a chassis 5 structure (12), at least one wheel (14) supportively mounted on the chassis structure (12), and at least one impact drum (16) which is displaceable relative to the chassis structure (12). The method includes travelling with the impact compactor (10) over a soil surface (100) while the drum (16) is in a raised position in which it is spaced from the soil surface (100) and 10 measuring, by using a measuring arrangement (20) which is connected to or forms part of the impact compactor (10), a rut depth (54) of a rut in the soil surface (100) which is formed by the wheel (14) as the impact compactor (10) travels over the soil surface (100).
DROP WEIGHT TOWER FOR CRACK INITIATION IN FRACTURE MECHANICS SAMPLES
Drop-weight tower (110) for reproducibly initiating a crack in a material sample for fracture mechanics testing comprising a base (120) with a top surface upon which a sample holder (124) is mounted to grip a material sample, an attachment column (140) having a linear rail (142), a carriage (162) attached to the linear rail (142) and a stage (164) is attached to the carriage. The stage (164) includes a vertical rod (184) and a razor-blade holder (178). A weight is slidably mounted to the vertical rod (184). The carriage is used to adjust the height of the stage (164) relative to the material sample. A hammer (180) slides up and down the vertical rod (184) to apply consistent and reproducible force on the razor (178) that then initiates the crack in the material sample.
MATTRESS EVALUATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system for simultaneously measuring the indentation hardness properties, span properties, and resilience properties of a mattress includes a first indentation means and a second indentation means, and means for urging the first indentation means and the second indentation means into the mattress with a predetermined force, and also includes laser means for projecting a laser line configured to map, preferably by photographic triangulation, the amplitude, shape, and time-dependency of the resultant deflection of the mattress surface between the first indentation means and the second indentation means. A method for simultaneously measuring the indentation hardness properties, span properties, and resilience properties of a mattress is also provided.
Impact test fixture capable of applying preload on composite laminate
An impact test fixture capable of applying preload on a composite laminate, which is composed of a base, a clamping mechanism and a loading mechanism, where the clamping mechanism is positioned on an upper surface of the base and fixedly connected to the base through a bolt, and the loading mechanism is installed at an end of the base. A composite laminate is placed in a rectangular groove of the base. A first wedge block and a second wedge block are positioned in a base sliding groove between a pressing block and a baffle plate, and inclined planes of the two wedge blocks are oppositely installed; the baffle plate is matched with the base through a first fixing bolt and a second fixing bolt, a loading bolt passes through a screw hole at a side end of the base and is matched with the first wedge block.

Tensile testing machine
A tensile testing machine comprising a test specimen whose elongation is to be measured along a tensile axis, slide plates, an intermediate plate, and first and second parallel guide rods, which freely guide the slide plates axially past them.
Compressive creep flow determination in fluids
The present disclosure provides an apparatus and method of use thereof for compressive creep testing of materials in the presence of fluids. The apparatus includes a cantilever arm connected on a first end to a cantilever pivot and including a weight holder on a second end; a first platen connected to the cantilever arm via a swivel located between the first end and the second end; a reservoir; and a second platen disposed within the reservoir and positioned to secure a sample between the first platen and the second platen when a force is applied via the weight holder and the first platen to a sample. Electrical properties of the material can be monitored and measured during the compression creep testing.
Methods of Bonding Articles Using Moisture-Curing Adhesive Composition
An adhesive composition may be applied to a surface, such as plastic, metal, wood, stucco, plaster, brick, concrete, glass, rubber, tile, fiberglass, ceramic, porcelain, canvas, stone, or drywall. The adhesive-containing surface is then pressed into contact with a second surface to create a strong, watertight bond. The methods disclosed herein may be used to assemble and/or repair a variety of articles and structures, such as roofs, gutters, boats, kayaks, personal watercraft, canoes, rafts, inflatable articles such as toys, sporting equipment, and air mattresses, outdoor equipment, mobile homes, recreational vehicles, campers, garden hoses, low-pressure PVC and plumbing pipes, tents, vinyl awnings, covers and tarps, swimming pools, windows, doors, walls, seams, vents, air ducts, HVAC systems, and the like. Also disclosed herein are methods of testing the bonding strength of an adhesive, methods of affecting underwater repairs, and methods of assembling an all-terrain vehicle.
Apparatus, method, and associated system for testing a pavement material sample
An apparatus for testing paving samples includes a base that includes a paving sample tray about the cabinet and configured for translation relative to the cabinet. A roller is configured for imparting compressive forces to a sample carried by the sample tray. An arm is configured for moving the roller from a stowed position to an in-use position where the roller contacts the sample. A cylinder assembly having a piston therein supplies pressure forces to the arm to move the arm from the stowed position to the in-use position, wherein a depth of travel of the arm is limited by the sample. As the sample is compressed, the depth of travel increases. A measurement device is in communication with the cylinder for determining an amount of travel of the arm to thus determine an amount of compression of the sample.
Scratch abrasion tester and testing method
An abrasion tester and testing method. The testing method comprises setting a running speed of a rubber sample fixed to an outer surface of an annular belt member stretched between a pair of pulleys to a desired speed; setting a pressing load applied by a contact member to a desired pressing load via an anchor member; selecting, as the contact member, a desired contact member from a plurality of types of contact members with different rubber sample surface contacting tip specifications; pressing the contact member against the surface of the rubber sample running by the rotation of the pulleys; and obtaining an amount of scratch abrasion of the rubber sample using a calculation unit on the basis of a cross-sectional shape of the surface of the rubber sample detected by a shape sensor.
