ELECTROMAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR
Electromagnetic chip detectors and associated methods of detecting a metallic chip in engine fluid of an engine are provided. The method comprises supplying an electric current to a circuit extending between a first node and a second node to magnetize both a first electrically conductive terminal and a second electrically conductive terminal spaced apart from each other to define a chip-receiving gap therebetween, and detecting a change in resistance across the first node and the second node. The change in resistance is indicative of a capture of the chip by the electromagnetic chip detector. The chip electrically connects the first electrically conductive terminal to the second electrically conductive terminal. The first electrically conductive terminal is electrically connected to the first node. The second electrically conductive terminal is electrically connected to the second node.
Measuring apparatus and method for determining the total organic carbon of a dissolved sample
A measuring apparatus for determining the total organic carbon of a sample in a liquid medium includes a reactor block made of a metallic, electrically conductive, and corrosion-resistant material, the reactor block including a housing wall for accommodating a light source, the housing wall including an inlet into and an outlet from the reactor block and a flow chamber in which digestion of the sample for determining the total organic carbon occurs, the flow chamber configured to accommodate the light source and to route the sample to be irradiated with light, wherein the measuring apparatus further includes at least one conductivity measurement device, wherein the reactor block is an external electrode of the conductivity measurement device. A method for determining the total organic carbon of the sample using the measuring apparatus is disclosed.
PERFUSIVE TISSUE PHANTOM
A perfusive tissue phantom is disclosed. An example tissue phantom includes a chamber with fluid inlets disposed on a first side and fluid outlets disposed on a second side spaced apart from the first side. The tissue phantom also includes a hydrogel region connected to at least one of the fluid inlets and including a permeable hydrogel with structural characteristics that simulate a type of tissue. The tissue phantom also includes a microfluidic conduit coupled to at least one of the fluid inlets. The microfluidic conduit is a flexible, semi-permeable fiber that simulates a blood vessel. The structural characteristics of the permeable hydrogel may include a selected density, porosity, rigidity and dimension that approximate a target density, porosity, rigidity and dimension of interstitial space of the type of tissue.
Manufacturing fluid sensing packages
In examples, a method of manufacturing a fluid sensing package comprises coupling a semiconductor die to a first set of conductive terminals; positioning the semiconductor die within a socket, a fluid probe extending through a probe orifice in a lid of the socket; positioning a ring of the fluid probe on a fluid sensing portion of the semiconductor die by closing the lid of the socket; and using the fluid probe to apply fluid to an area of the fluid sensing portion circumscribed by the ring.

Connector
The present invention provides a connector (18) for use in a beverage dispense system (1), the connector (18) defining a conduit for connecting a beverage line (2) to a beverage supply (4). The connector (18) comprises an electrical sensor (21) (e.g. a capacitive sensor) for measuring an electrical parameter of a beverage within the connector conduit. The electrical parameter and/or changes in the electrical parameter can be used to detect bubbles in the beverage and/or identify the type/brand of beverage.
