The detector (10) comprises at least one transmitter (11) having a transmitter coil (12) and a supply source (13), a receiver (14) having a receiver coil (15), and an evaluation unit (16), wherein the transmitter coil (12) is connected to the supply source (13), the supply source (13) is configured to provide an alternating voltage or an alternating current when in use, the receiver (14) is designed as a resonant-circuit-free receiver, the receiver (14) is connected to the evaluation unit (16), and the evaluation unit (16) is configured to detect a signal induced in the receiver coil (15).
Extended-range positioning system based on foreign-object detection
Systems and methods are described for an extended-range positioning system based on foreign-object detection (FOD). In particular, a power-transfer apparatus is disclosed that includes a coil and a foreign-object-detection (FOD) system. The coil is configured to generate a magnetic field based on an electric current running through the coil for transferring power to a receiver device. the FOD system includes a plurality of FOD sense loops, FOD circuitry, and active-beacon receive circuitry. The FOD sense loops detect metal objects within the magnetic field based on changes to an electrical characteristic(s) of one or more of the FOD sense loops. The FOD circuitry processes a modulation pattern of the electrical characteristic(s) of the one or more FOD sense loops and provides first positioning information. The active-beacon receive circuitry processes induced voltage in at least two sense loops to provide second positioning information.
FOREIGN OBJECT DETECTION METHOD AND APPARATUS, AND WIRELESS CHARGING SYSTEM
This application provides a foreign object detection method and apparatus, and a wireless charging system. The foreign object detection apparatus includes a coil array and a foreign object detection circuit. The coil array includes at least one coil group, and each coil group includes four detection coils whose locations are symmetrical to each other. The foreign object detection circuit determine an abnormal-value threshold of each coil group based on induction signals of each coil group and that are obtained in a first time period, and detect, based on the abnormal-value threshold and the induction signals of each coil group, whether there is a foreign object; when it is determined that there is no foreign object, detect, based on the signal threshold of each coil group and induction signals that are of each coil group and that are obtained in a second time period, whether there is a foreign object.

A metal detector transmitting, through a transmit coil, a repeating transmit signal cycle, which includes at least one receive period and at least one non-zero transmit coil reactive voltage period; and sensing a current in the transmit coil during at least one receive period to control a magnitude and/or duration of the at least one non-zero transmit coil reactive voltage period such that the average value of the current during at least one receive period of every repeating transmit signal cycle is substantially constant from cycle to cycle, and the current during at least one receive period is substantially independent of the inductance of the transmit coil.
Foreign object detection circuit using mutual impedance sensing
The present disclosure describes techniques for detecting foreign objects. In some aspects, an apparatus for detecting objects is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of sense circuits, each of the plurality of sense circuits including a primary sense coil having a first terminal and a second terminal, a secondary sense coil having a first terminal and a second terminal, and a capacitor having a first terminal and a second terminal. The first terminal of the capacitor is electrically connected to the second terminals of each of the primary sense coil and the secondary sense coil. The apparatus further includes a driver circuit electrically connected to the first terminal of the primary sense coil of each of the plurality of sense circuits. The apparatus further includes a measurement circuit electrically connected to the first terminal of the secondary sense coil of each of the plurality of sense circuits.
Sensor arrangement for a foreign object detection device
The invention relates to a sensor arrangement (140) for a foreign object detection device which includes a current input (142) and a current output (143), a multitude of detection cells (144.1-144.9), each comprising a sense coil and a capacitive element, forming a resonant tank. The sensor arrangement (140) further has a multitude of inputs leads (148a-148c) and a multitude of output leads (150a-150c), the total number of input and output leads being equal or smaller than the number of detection cells (144.1-144.9). Each detection cell is connected between one of the input leads (148a-148c) and one of the output leads (150a-150c), in a way that each of the detection cells (144.1-144.9) is connected to a different pair of input and output leads (148a-148c, 150a-150c). An input selection circuit (152) allows to selectively establish an electrical connection between the current input (142) and one or more of the input leads (148a-148c) and an output selection circuit to (153) selectively establish an electrical connection between one or more of the output leads (150a-150c) and the current output (143). According to the invention at least one detection cell (144.1-144.9) includes a decoupling element (D1-D9) connected in series to its resonant tank. The invention further relates to foreign object detection device for a wireless power transfer system, a primary part of a wireless power transfer system, a wireless power transfer system and a method for detecting a foreign object.
High-isolation transmit/receive surface coils for EPRI
The present invention provides an apparatus and a corresponding method useful for electron paramagnetic resonance imaging, in situ and in vivo, using high-isolation transmit/receive (TX/RX) coils, which, in some embodiments, provide microenvironmental images that are representative of particular internal structures in the human body and spatially resolved images of tissue/cell protein signals responding to conditions (such as hypoxia) that show the temporal sequence of certain biological processes, and, in some embodiments, that distinguish malignant tissue from healthy tissue. In some embodiments, the TX/RX coils are in a surface, volume or surface-volume configuration. In some embodiments, the transmit coils are oriented to generate an RF magnetic field in directions substantially orthogonal to a static gradient field, and the receive coils are oriented to sense RF EPR signal in directions substantially orthogonal to the transmitted field and to the static field, to minimize coupling of the transmitted signal to the receive coils.

The present disclosure describes techniques for detecting foreign objects. In some aspects, an apparatus for detecting objects is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of sense circuits, each of the plurality of sense circuits including a primary sense coil having a first terminal and a second terminal, a secondary sense coil having a first terminal and a second terminal, and a capacitor having a first terminal and a second terminal. The first terminal of the capacitor is electrically connected to the second terminals of each of the primary sense coil and the secondary sense coil. The apparatus further includes a driver circuit electrically connected to the first terminal of the primary sense coil of each of the plurality of sense circuits. The apparatus further includes a measurement circuit electrically connected to the first terminal of the secondary sense coil of each of the plurality of sense circuits.
Method and apparatus for EPROI using T1e spin-lattice relaxation response
An apparatus and method for improved S/N measurements useful for electron paramagnetic resonance imaging in situ and in vivo, using high-isolation transmit/receive surface coils and temporally spaced pulses of RF energy (e.g., in some embodiments, a RF pi pulse) having an amplitude sufficient to rotate the magnetization by 180 degrees followed after varied delays, by a second RF pulse having an amplitude half that of the initial pulse to rotate the magnetization by, e.g., 90 degrees (a pi/2 pulse), to the plane orthogonal to the static field where it evolves for a short time. Then a third RF pi pulse sufficient to rotate the magnetization by, e.g., 180 degrees, forms an echo (in some embodiments, the second and third pulses are from the same signal as the first pulse but are phase shifted by 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees to reduce signal artifact), to image human body.
Miniaturized, inductive proximity sensor and method for detecting a sensing body
In an embodiment, an inductive proximity sensor includes two receiving coils and one transmitting coil arranged between the two receiving coils. The receiving coils and transmitting coil are each formed from a group of at least two individual coils on carrier boards, which are arranged parallel to one another. The carrier boards have a diameter which is smaller than or equal to 10 mm, and a winding of the receiving coils or the transmitting coil has a cross-sectional geometry in which a ratio of a base width to a height lies in the range from 0.2 to 0.3. An embodiment of a method for detecting an object using an inductive proximity sensor includes generating an alternating field using a transmitting coil of the proximity sensor and sensing, using two receiving coils of the inductive proximity sensor, a change in the alternating field caused by proximity of the object.
