Curved reflective polariser films and methods of shaping
Shaped optical films and methods of shaping optical films are described. The method includes securing at least portions of a perimeter of the optical film in a first plane so that the secured portions do not move relative to one another; and stretching the optical film by displacing a portion of the optical film along at least a first direction perpendicular to the first plane such that one of a radial and circumferential stretching of the optical film is substantially constant from a center to the perimeter of the optical film, and the other one of the radial and circumferential stretching of the optical film substantially changes from the center to the perimeter of the optical film. The optical film is a reflective polarizer including a plurality of alternating polymeric layers.
Optical Shuffle Computation Network Using Multicore Fiber Arrays
Optical communication system communicates between an array of originating tiles and an array of terminating tiles. Each array is associated with a lenslet array, such as a two-layer array. Each originating tile has an array and each terminating tile has an array of transceivers. Each tile is associated with a common lenslet or lenslet pair. A beamlet from a representative originating transceiver passes through the lenslet pair adjacent to its tile via an originating Fourier transform element, collimating optics, and a terminating Fourier transform element. The beam then passes through the lenslet pair adjacent to the tile containing the terminating transceiver associated with the representative originating transceiver, and is focused onto that receiver by that lenslet pair. Originating and/or terminating arrays of multicore fibers may be used between the originating transceivers and the originating Fourier transform element and/or between the terminating Fourier transform element and the terminating transceivers.
CURVED REFLECTIVE POLARIZER
A curved reflective has at least one location having a radius of curvature in a range from about 6 mm to about 1000 mm. Each location on the reflective polarizer has a maximum reflectance greater than about 70% for a block polarization state, a maximum transmittance greater than about 70% for an orthogonal pass polarization state, and a minimum transmittance for the block polarization state. For a continuous first portion of the reflective polarizer extending between different first and second edges of the reflective polarizer and defining disjoint second and third portions of the reflective polarizer, the minimum transmittance of the reflective polarizer for the block polarization state is higher at each location in at least 70% of the first portion than at each location in at least 70% of the second portion and at each location in at least 70% of the third portion.
QUANTUM COMPUTING UNIT, SINGLE PHOTON SOURCE, QUANTUM COMPUTING DEVICE, AND QUANTUM COMPUTING METHOD
In order to deterministically operate a quantum computing unit (13-m) having a plurality of quantum systems trapped thereto, quantum computing is carried out with use of a quantum computing unit including: an optical nanofiber (131-m) optically connected, via a tapered portion, to an optical fiber (12) through which a photon entering thereto is propagated; and a plurality of quantum systems (132-m) arranged outside the optical nanofiber so as to be arrayed at intervals along a longitudinal direction of the optical nanofiber. Note that at least any one of the quantum systems functions as a qubit interacting with the photon.
POLARIZATION CONTROL BASED UPON A POLARIZATION REFERENCE STATE
According to an example, a polarization control system is to manipulate polarization manipulators to output light that achieves a trajectory on a Poincaré sphere that tracks a known trajectory of a polarizer on the Poincaré sphere, in which the trajectory of the output light enables definition of a reference polarization state of the output light. The polarization control system may also manipulate an output polarization manipulator to set the output light to a predefined polarization state based upon the reference polarization state.
Method for adjusting optical source
A method for adjusting an optical source used for fabricating an optical receiver comprising a signal beam input port, a polarization beam splitter, and signal generation units, is disclosed. The optical source generates a reference beam by combining first and second beams having polarization directions orthogonal each other. The reference beam is introduced to the signal beam input port to measure a first size of an electric signal generated in one of the signal generation units. A half-wavelength plate is disposed in an optical path between the beam splitter and the one of the signal generation units. After that, the reference beam is introduced to the signal beam input port to measure a second size of an electric signal generated in the one of the generation units. At least one of the first and second beams is adjusted such that the first size and the second size become close to each other.
Delivery of light into a vacuum chamber using an optical fiber
A system for laser enhanced voltage contrast using an optical fiber is provided. The system includes a vacuum chamber with a stage that secures a wafer. A laser light source outside the vacuum chamber directs light to an optical fiber. The optical fiber transmits all wavelengths of light from the laser light source into the vacuum chamber through a wall of the vacuum chamber.
Bell state measurement apparatus based on single-mode optical fiber
The present invention relates to a Bell state measurement apparatus capable of increasing a probability in which a determination that a Bell state measurement fails by using an optical fiber.
