Transmissive metasurface lens integration
Metasurface elements, integrated systems incorporating such metasurface elements with light sources and/or detectors, and methods of the manufacture and operation of such optical arrangements and integrated systems are provided. Systems and methods for integrating transmissive metasurfaces with other semiconductor devices or additional metasurface elements, and more particularly to the integration of such metasurfaces with substrates, illumination sources and sensors are also provided. The metasurface elements provided may be used to shape output light from an illumination source or collect light reflected from a scene to form two unique patterns using the polarization of light. In such embodiments, shaped-emission and collection may be combined into a single co-designed probing and sensing optical system.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS HAVING OPTICAL POWER SUPPLIES
A system includes a housing including a front panel, a rear panel, an upper panel, and a lower panel. The system includes a first circuit board or substrate, at least one data processor coupled to the first circuit board or substrate and configured to process data, and at least one optical module coupled to the first circuit board or substrate. Each optical module is configured to perform at least one of (i) convert input optical signals to electrical signals that are provided to the at least one data processor, or (ii) convert electrical signals received from the at least one data processor to output optical signals. The system includes at least one inlet fan mounted near the front panel and configured to increase an air flow across a surface of at least one of (i) the at least one data processor, (ii) a heat dissipating device thermally coupled to the at least one data processor, (iii) the at least one optical module, or (iv) a heat dissipating device thermally coupled to the at least one optical module. The system includes at least one laser module configured to provide optical power to the at least one optical module.
Optical engine
An optical engine. In some embodiments, the optical engine includes an electronic interfacing component including: an upper surface having a plurality of conductors for forming a corresponding plurality of connections to a host board, a lower surface having a plurality of conductors for forming a corresponding plurality of connections to one or more optoelectronic elements, and a plurality of vias extending from the lower surface to the upper surface.
CONNECTOR HAVING OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTION MECHANISM AND CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY THEREOF
A connector for a system circuit board or a power module is provided. The connector includes a main body and an optical connection mechanism. The main body includes a first connecting terminal and a second connecting terminal. The first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal are power contacts or signal contacts. The optical fiber connection mechanism is embedded within the main body. The optical fiber connection mechanism is disposed between the first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal. Since the optical fiber connection mechanism is embedded within the main body, it is not necessary to specifically remove the optical fiber cable when the power module is detached from the cabinet. Moreover, the appearance of the product is more aesthetically-pleasing, and the maintaining speed and the product reliability are increased.
CANTILEVERS WITH ONE- OR TWO-DIMENSIONAL ACTUATION FOR ON-CHIP ACTIVE WAVEGUIDE COUPLING ALIGNMENT
Photonic integrated circuits including controllable cantilevers are described. Such photonic integrated circuits may be used in connection with other optical devices, in which light is transferred between the photonic integrated circuit and one of these optical device. The photonic integrated circuit may comprise an optical waveguide having an end disposed proximate to a facet of the cantilever. The orientation of the cantilever may be actively controlled in one or two dimensions, thus adjusting the orientation of the optical waveguide. Actuation of the cantilever may be performed, for example, thermally and/or electrostatically. Orientation of the cantilever may be performed in such a way to align the optical waveguide with an optical device.
NETWORKING CABLE TRACER SYSTEM
A method and apparatus for providing a tracer function for networked cable systems used for data or power transmission. A self contained and self powered indicator circuit is described that enables tracing the location of both ends of a networked cable.
OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND CIRCUIT BOARD ASSEMBLIES
An exemplary optical connector assembly may include a substrate of an optical printed circuit board (OPCB) with at least one optical device thereon, the substrate including one or more recesses, an optical connector with one or more alignment members for coupling an end of an optical waveguide to the optical device, and one or more inserts, each having an orifice for receiving one of the one or more alignment members and each arranged to be received in one of the one or more recesses. When assembled, the one or more inserts may be received in the one or more recesses and the one or more alignment members may be received in the orifices of the one or more inserts thereby coupling the optical waveguide to the substrate to form the exemplary optical connector assembly.
