High density optical transceiver assembly
A transceiver assembly for mounting on a mother board, said transceiver assembly comprising: (a) a frame defining a first plane configured for mounting parallel to said motherboard, said frame defining a plurality of slots perpendicular to said first plane; and (b) one or more opto-electric cards, each of said one or more opto-electric cards disposed in one of said plurality of slots and comprising at least, (i) a substrate having a first edge parallel to said first plane when said opto-electric card is mounted in said slot, (ii) an electrical interface along said first edge, (iii) and an interposer electrically connected to said electrical interface and comprising at least one optical component operatively connected to said electrical interface, and (iv) at least one optical fiber extending freely from said interposer.
Fiber optic adapter assembly
A fiber optic adapter assembly reduced in size from a SFP footprint to a SC footprint to accommodate a first fiber optic connector on a first side within one or more ports, and a second fiber optic connector on a second side within one or more ports. The first fiber optic connector is a duplex fiber optic connector with an overall length of about 50 mm and the second fiber optic connector is a behind-the-wall connector with an overall length of about 15 mm thereby reducing the overall length of a connector and adapter assembly for increasing optical fiber density.
CONNECTOR WITH IMPROVED SHELL
A connector includes a first shell, a second shell, a tongue plate and a number of conductive pads. The first shell includes a first protruding piece extending along a first direction. The second shell includes a second protruding piece extending along the first direction. The tongue plate is located between the first protruding piece and the second protruding piece in a second direction. The tongue plate includes a mating surface. The plurality of conductive pads are provided on the tongue plate and exposed to the mating surface. The first protruding piece has a first width in a third direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction. The second protruding piece has a second width along the third direction. The first width is the same as the second width. As a result, the connector is easy to manufacture, thereby reducing the cost of the connector.
MULTI-CHANNEL PARALLEL OPTICAL COMMUNICATION MODULE AND OPTICAL TRANSCEIVER HAVING THE SAME
A multi-channel parallel optical communication module includes a casing having an airtight cavity, an optical communication assembly accommodated in the airtight cavity, and a temperature controller in thermal contact with the optical communication assembly. The optical communication assembly includes a plurality of optical communication units disposed at same level, and a number of the plurality of optical communication units is greater than four.
STRUCTURES AND METHOD FOR THERMAL MANAGEMENT IN ACTIVE OPTICAL CABLE (AOC) ASSEMBLIES
Disclosed are structures and methods for active optic cable (AOC) assembly having improved thermal characteristics. In one embodiment, an AOC assembly includes a fiber optic cable having a first end attached to a connector with a thermal insert attached to the housing for dissipating heat from the connector. The AOC assembly can dissipate a suitable heat transfer rate from the active components of the connector such as dissipating a heat transfer rate of 0.75 Watts or greater from the connector. In one embodiment, the thermal insert is at least partially disposed under the boot of the connector. In another embodiment, at least one component of the connector has a plurality of fins. Other AOC assemblies may include a connector having a pull tab for dissipating heat from the assembly.
PLUG FOR CONNECTION TO A SOCKET OF A PANEL OF AN ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT HOUSING HAVING ANTI-BREAKAGE MEANS FOR THE OPTICAL CABLE ON WHICH THE PLUG IS MOUNTED
A plug mounted on an optical cable with one or more optical contacts each one having a tab which is deformable elastically or mounted so as to pivot relative to the rest of the contact, including: a body including a front part and a rear part; a bushing fitted around the front part with axial sliding forward, the bushing bearing a tab with an appendage extending inside the rear part, the tab of the bushing and the tab of each contact being disposed relative to each other so that when a traction force is applied to make the bushing slide around the front part, the appendage is able to bear against the tab of each contact so as to deform it elastically or make it pivot until the disconnection is produced between the contact and the converter.
PLUG FOR CONNECTION TO A SOCKET OF AN ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT BOX PANEL, HAVING MEANS OF SELF-ALIGNMENT
The present invention concerns a plug intended to be mounted on at least one cable whose one end supports one or more contacts comprising: a body, comprising: a front portion extending along a longitudinal axis, the front portion being designed to be lodged in a socket, the front portion being adapted to lodge and hold the contact(s) or at least an optoelectronic converter connected to the contact(s); a rear portion forming a sheath, designed to lodge the end of the cable, itself supporting the contact(s); the rear portion being mounted floating about the front portion; a plurality of flexible tabs made of electrically conductive material, distributed on the outer periphery of the front portion, the flexible tabs being adapted to remain in mechanical contact with the interior of the socket when the front portion is lodged in the latter.
Plug connector
A plug connector is attachable with an optical fiber cable and is connectable with a receptacle connector. The receptacle connector comprises a receptacle shell. The plug connector comprises a front holder, a cable holding portion, a rear holder and a coupling member. The front holder is made of metal. The front holder is mated with the receptacle shell when the plug connector is connected with the receptacle connector. The cable holding portion is made of metal. The cable holding portion is configured to hold the optical fiber cable. The rear holder guards the cable holding portion. The rear holder comprises, at least in part, a thermal insulating portion made of non-metal material. The coupling member couples the front holder and the rear holder with each other. Each of the coupling member and the front holder is in contact with the rear holder only on the thermal insulating portion.
