A fixing device includes an endless belt and a pressure rotator disposed opposite an outer circumferential surface of the endless belt. The pressure rotator has a first span in an axial direction of the endless belt. A nip formation pad, which is disposed opposite an inner circumferential surface of the endless belt, forms a fixing nip between the endless belt and the pressure rotator. The nip formation pad includes a belt-side thee disposed opposite the endless belt A radiant heater, which is disposed opposite the inner circumferential surface of the endless belt, heats the endless belt. A thermal conduction aid, which contacts the belt-side face of the nip formation pad, conducts heat in the axial direction of the endless belt. The thermal conduction aid has a second span within which the first span of the pressure rotator is provided at the fixing nip.

An example image forming apparatus includes an endless belt to rotate, belt rollers including a tension roller and an adjustment roller extending inside the endless belt, a nip roller extending adjacent the endless belt to form a nip between the nip roller and the endless belt, and a cam shaft that includes a nip forming cam and a tension adjustment cam. The nip forming cam moves the nip roller between a pressed position in which the nip roller is pressed against the endless belt, and a retracted position in which the nip roller is retracted from the endless belt. The tension adjustment cam moves the adjustment roller relative to the tension roller.

An image forming apparatus includes an endless belt to rotate, belt rollers including a tension roller and an adjustment roller extending inside the endless belt, a nip roller extending adjacent the endless belt to form a nip between the nip roller and the endless belt, and a cam shaft that includes a nip forming cam and a tension adjustment cam. The nip forming cam moves the nip roller between a pressed position in which the nip roller is pressed against the endless belt, and a retracted position in which the nip roller is retracted from the endless belt. The tension adjustment cam moves the adjustment roller relative to the tension roller.

There is provided a heater according to an embodiment including a heat generating unit configured to generate heat by electric conduct ion; and a plurality of electrodes configured to be respectively disposed at facing side edges of the heat generating unit so as to be electrically connected to the heat generating unit and at least one side of the side edges is formed by cutting out a part thereof.

According to one embodiment, a heater includes an insulator substrate, a heat generating section in which a plurality of divided regions are formed in a longitudinal direction on a first surface of the insulator substrate, electrodes formed at both end portions of the heat generating section to correspond to the plurality of divided regions, and electric conductors connected to at least one of the electrodes and formed over a surface different from the first surface of the insulator substrate.

An image forming apparatus (1) includes a frame (61) supporting an attached object (23) inserted into an apparatus body (2) and an attachment device (62) fixing the attached object (23) supported by the frame (61). The frame (61) includes a leading end plate (61b) facing to a leading end in an inserting direction of the attached object (23). The attached object (23) includes a fixing pin (65) supported by the leading end plate (61b) in advanceable/retreatable state along the inserting direction and formed connectable to the attached object (23), a biasing member (66) biasing the fixing pin (65) toward the inserting direction and a locking member (67) restricting dropout of the fixing pin (65). The attachment device (62) holds the attached object (23) being connected to the fixing pin (65) and receiving the biasing force of the biasing member (67) at a position gravitated to the leading end plate (61b).

A fuser having a heater, a belt, and a holder, is provided. The heater includes a metal-made base plate and a resistive-heating element and has a first face and a second face. The resistive-heating element is formed on at least one of the first face and the second face. The belt being an endless belt has an inner circumferential surface contacting the first face of the heater and rotates around the heater. The holder has a retainer face to contact the second face of the heater to retain the heater and a belt-guiding face to contact the inner circumferential surface of the belt and guide the belt there-along. The base plate has a pair of first edges located on one end and the other end of the first face in the widthwise direction extending in the lengthwise direction. The pair of first edges are rounded at ridges.

A belt type fixing apparatus comprises: a fixing roller; a fixing belt which is installed to be opposite to the fixing roller; a nip forming member which is installed inside the fixing belt and supports the fixing belt so that the fixing belt can contact the fixing roller to form a fixing nip; a pair of sliding members which are installed to support both ends of the fixing belt and are rotated by the fixing belt; a pair of flange members which rotatably support the pair of sliding members; and a heat source which is installed inside the fixing belt and generates heat, wherein the rotation center of the pair of sliding members is located upstream in the transportation direction of printed matter compared to the rotation center of the fixing roller.

The fixing apparatus includes a cylindrical film, a nip member in contact with a film inner surface, wherein the nip member extends in a film longitudinal direction; a heater provided in a film hollow portion, a roller forming a nip portion where the recording material is conveyed and heated to fix the image on the recording material; a support member supporting the nip member, wherein a cross section of the support member perpendicular to the film longitudinal direction has a U-shape, and two end portions forming an opening portion in the U-shape support the nip member, an insulation member provided between the two end portions and the nip plate, and a reflection member surrounding the heater between the nip member and the support member, wherein the reflection member reflects the radiation heat of the heater toward the nip member.

An endless belt includes a base layer and a resin layer. The base layer includes a metal film. The resin layer is laminated on an outer side of the base layer. The resin layer includes edge portions in an axial direction with at least one edge ponton of the edge portions made narrower than the base layer in the axial direction such that the outer side of the base layer is exposed.
