An image forming apparatus includes an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer that includes at least one of a hindered phenol antioxidant and a benzophenone ultraviolet absorber, a charging device, an electrostatic latent image forming device, a developing device, and a transfer device that includes an intermediate transfer belt whose electric field dependence of a volume resistivity is 0.003 or less (log Ω.Math.cm)/V in a voltage range of from 500 V to 1,000 V, and transfers a toner image formed on a surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor onto a recording medium through the intermediate transfer belt and erases charges from the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor by applying current to the electrophotographic photoreceptor after the toner image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor has been transferred onto the intermediate transfer belt.

ELECTROCONDUCTIVE MEMBER, PROCESS CARTRIDGE, AND DEVICE FOR FORMING ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE

The electrophotographic electroconductive member includes a support having an electroconductive outer surface, and an electroconductive layer on the surface of the support. The electroconductive layer has a matrix containing a crosslinked product of a first rubber, and domains dispersed in the matrix, and the domains each contain a crosslinked product of a second rubber and electroconductive particles. The matrix has a volume resistivity R1 of more than 1.0×10.sup.12 Ω.Math.cm, and the domains each have a volume resistivity R2 lower than the volume resistivity R1 of the matrix. The electroconductive layer further has a pore, and an inner wall of the pore is constituted by a part of the matrix and a part of the domains. The domains constituting the inner wall protrude into the pore at sites on the inner wall.

Provided an electrophotographic electro-conductive member that can stably suppress an occurrence of fogging in an electrophotographic image. The member comprises a support having an electro-conductive outer surface, and an electro-conductive layer on the outer surface of the support, the electro-conductive layer having a matrix including a cross-linked product of a first rubber, and domains dispersed in the matrix, the domains each includes a cross-linked product of a second rubber and an electro-conductive particle, at least some of the domains is exposed to the outer surface of the electro-conductive member to constitute protrusions on an outer surface of the member, the outer surface of the electro-conductive member is constituted by the matrix and the domains exposed to the outer surface of the electrophotographic electro-conductive member, the electrophotographic electro-conductive member has an impedance of 1.0×10.sup.3Ω or more and 1.0×10.sup.8Ω or less, and some of the domains satisfy two specific requirements.

Provided is an electrophotographic photosensitive member that suppresses an image defect resulting from its support and is reduced in long-term potential fluctuation. The electrophotographic photosensitive member is an electrophotographic photosensitive member including a support having a cylindrical shape and a photosensitive layer formed on the support, wherein the support has a surface formed of Al and/or an Al alloy, and wherein the IR peak area ratio A of the surface of the support determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy satisfies the following condition: A≥0.50 where the IR peak area ratio A represents a ratio a/z of a peak area “a” in the range of from 1,016 cm.sup.−1 or more to 1,130 cm.sup.−1 or less to a peak area “z” in the range of from 650 cm.sup.−1 or more to 1,130 cm.sup.−1 or less.

A process cartridge, in which an electroconductive layer of a charging member has a matrix including a first rubber, and domains dispersed in the matrix, the domains include a second rubber and an electron electroconductive agent, at least some of the domains are exposed on a surface of the charging member, when a volume resistivity of the matrix is 10.sup.5 times or more a volume resistivity of the domains, a protective layer of an electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a metal oxide particle, and when a number average primary particle size of the metal oxide particle is defined as Sm and an average value of equivalent circle diameters of the domains is defined as Sd, the Sd/Sm satisfies the following expression (1): 0.5<Sd/Sm<100 . . . expression (1).

(a) is an organopolysiloxane, (b) is a crosslinking agent, (c) is a microcapsule catalyst made of fine resin particles which encapsulate a crosslinking catalyst by a resin other than a silicone resin, and (d) is silica with a BET specific surface area of 70 to 350 m.sup.2/g.
