An optical device includes: a light guide plate receiving, for each of N types of wavelength bands, a plurality of parallel light beams with different incident angles each corresponding to view angles, and guiding the received parallel light beams; a first and a second volume hologram gratings of reflection type having a diffraction configuration which includes N types of interference fringes each corresponding to the N types of wavelength bands, and diffracting/reflecting the parallel light beams. The optical device satisfies for each wavelength band, a relationship of ‘P>L’, where ‘L’ represents a central diffraction wavelength in the first and second volume hologram gratings, defined for a parallel light beam corresponding to a central view angle, and ‘P’ represents a peak wavelength of the parallel light beams.

AUGMENTED REALITY HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY USING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND HOLOGRAPHIC OPTICAL ELEMENT

Provided is a technology for implementing an AR optical waveguide display capable of showing a hologram image by means of a small and simple system configuration by using an HOE. A holographic display according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a light source module for emitting a beam; an optical waveguide through which the emitted beam is incident and propagated; a plurality of holographic optical elements (HOES) for propagating the beam incident to the optical waveguide inside the optical waveguide while totally reflecting the beam; and a modulator for reproducing a holographic image through the progressing beam and propagating the beam to the inside of the optical waveguide while totally reflecting the beam. Accordingly, it is possible to implement, as a small and simple system, an optical waveguide display showing an AR hologram by using an optical waveguide and an HOE.

Holographic volume gratings in waveguide cells can be recorded using many different methods and systems in accordance with various embodiments of the invention. One embodiment includes a holographic recording system including at least one laser source configured to emit recording beams and a movable platform configured to move between a first position and a second position, wherein when the movable platform is in the first position, the at least one laser source is configured to emit a first set of one or more recording beams toward a first set of one or more stations and when the movable platform is in the second position, the at least one laser source is configured to emit a second set of one or more recording beams toward a second set of one or more stations.

The exposure device further includes at least one objective lens unit, which is designed to direct the modified modulation beam through an immersion medium onto a recording material in order to record the hologram by exposing the recording material to the modified modulation beam.

The holographic projector further comprises a continuous block of transparent material. At least part of the optical path is formed through the continuous block of transparent material. The transparent material has a refractive index greater than air.

A device for producing an edge-lit-hologram having a light source, in particular a laser light source, for generating a light beam, optical splitter for splitting the light beam generated by the light source into an object beam and a reference beam, imprinter for imprinting computer-generated information pertaining to the edge-lit-hologram to the object, optics for overlapping the object beam and the reference beam on or in a photosensitive recording medium for imprinting the edge-lit-hologram, where the optics include at least one transparent body through which the reference beam enters the photosensitive recording medium during operation of the device. The at least one transparent body shaped and disposed in the device such that the reference beam enters the body at an angle of less than 10° to the normal on the surface of the body or enters the body perpendicular to the surface of the body.

DISPLAYING THREE-DIMENSIONAL OBJECTS

Methods, apparatus, devices, and systems for displaying three-dimensional objects by individually diffracting different colors of light are provided. In one aspect, an optical device includes: a first optically diffractive component including a first diffractive structure configured to diffract a first color of light having a first incident angle at a first diffracted angle, a second optically diffractive component including a second diffractive structure configured to diffract a second color of light having a second incident angle at a second diffracted angle, a first reflective layer configured to totally reflect the first color of light having the first incident angle and transmit the second color of light, and a second reflective layer configured to totally reflect the second color of light having the second incident angle. The first reflective layer is between the first and second diffractive structures, and the second diffractive structure is between the first and second reflective layers.
