Method and device for testing a technical system
A method for testing a technical system. Tests are carried out with the aid of a simulation of the system. The tests are evaluated with respect to a fulfillment measure of a quantitative requirement on the system and different error measures of the simulation. On the basis of the fulfillment measure and each of the error measures, a classification of the tests is carried out as either reliable or unreliable case by case. A selection among the error measures is made on the basis of a number of the tests classified as reliable.

SIMULATION ARCHITECTURE FOR SAFETY TESTING OF AIRCRAFT MONITORING SOFTWARE
A simulation testing architecture can be applied to an aircraft monitoring system for an aircraft that includes complex algorithms (such as machine learning algorithms) for sensing objects around the aircraft and controlling the aircraft to avoid such objects. A reference scenario is selected from a plurality of stored scenarios based on a desired set of aircraft safety standards. A stochastic process is applied to generate a large number of conditional variations within a simulated environment, varying weather, objects in the airspace, points of failure, and the like to provide a representative sample of possible aircraft missions and encounters within the selected reference scenario. Synthetic environmental inputs are fed into the aircraft monitoring system software, and the resultant actions of the software are logged. These logs can be used to generate metrics on an encounter-level basis, a scenario-level basis, or across a population of scenarios.

The memory stores processor executable instruction. System and method for validating component integrity in an engine
Methods and systems for validating component integrity in an engine are described. First usage data associated with a period of operation of the engine is obtained at an engine controller. An indication of the first usage data is transmitted from the engine controller to a first presentation device. Second usage data associated with the period of operation of the engine is received at the engine controller from an input device. The first usage data is compared to the second usage data at the engine controller. Based on the comparing, an alert is issued to a second presentation device independent from the first presentation device.

Methods to generate a wiring schema
Apparatus and associated methods relate to generating a wiring schema with more than one safety device sharing at least one test signal through one or more external terminal blocks when the number of terminals required by safety devices exceeds the number of available terminals of a safety controller. In an illustrative example, the method may include determining a total number of terminals A of safety devices to be connected to a safety evaluation device having a number of terminals B. If A is greater than B, the method may then include generating a wiring schema that one or more external terminal blocks may show indicia of electrical connections between an identified set of safety devices and a shared terminal of the safety evaluation device associated with that set. Various embodiments may advantageously expand a number of devices to be connected to the safety evaluation device.
Testing a crash sensor device during vehicle operation
A crash sensor device may include multiple sensor components positioned along one or more data paths to a communication interface of the crash sensor device. The crash sensor device may include a test control unit. The test control unit may receive a test command from an electronic control unit during operation of a vehicle. The test control unit may perform a test of one or more sensor components, of the multiple sensor components, during operation of the vehicle based on the test command. The test control unit may output a test result to the electronic control unit based on performing the test.

A method can include perturbing an electric motor of a hybrid powerplant having the electric motor and a fuel powered engine. The method can include measuring a frequency response of the powerplant due to the perturbing of the electric motor to determine a health of the powerplant and/or one or more components thereof.
