According to one embodiment, there is provided an electronic apparatus comprises: a memory storing an instruction and configured to secure therein: a key transfer memory storage area configured to store at least a numerical value transferred from the external device; an entered numeral storage area configured to store a definitive entered numeral used for an arithmetic operation; and an entered numeral input area configured to store at least a numerical value input through a key input device for display; a processor configured to, in accordance with the instruction, cause the key transfer memory storage area to store a value transferred from the external device via a communication device, and then cause the entered numeral storage area and the entered numeral input area to store the value stored in the key transfer memory storage area.

Systems and methods for evaluating and improving reading skills in real time are disclosed. The method may include receiving a user selection of an electronic book in an application executing on a user device associated with a first user, opening the user selection of the electronic book in the application, initiating a video call or an audio call with a second user in the application, receiving from the first user one or more first spoken words associated with a first reading content of the electronic book, transcribing the one or more first spoken words to first text via the application, determining if the first text matches the first reading content of the electronic book, and transmitting the determination of whether the first text matches the first reading content of the electronic book to the first user and the second user.

A method for controlling screen rotation of an electronic reading device that includes processing circuitry, an accelerometer, and a display screen. The method including: receiving, by the processing circuitry, a request to access a menu for initiation of a screen-rotation lock function for the electronic reading device; displaying, on the display screen, the menu for the initiation of the screen-rotation lock function; receiving, by the processing circuitry, a selection of one particular screen orientation for the display screen from among a plurality of screen orientations; rotating, the electronic reading device, 90 degrees; detecting, by the accelerometer, the 90 degree rotation; and maintaining a screen that is displayed on the display screen in the selected one particular screen orientation.

Disclosed are a method for displaying handwritten input content, an electronic device and a non-volatile computer readable storage medium. The method includes: acquiring handwritten input content; modifying image stored in a display cache based on the handwritten input content, and synchronizing a modified image to a display screen; and drawing the handwritten input content in a custom graphic layer located above other graphic layers in a system cache, performing a graphic layer merging operation for the other graphic layers and the custom graphic layer, and replacing the modified image stored in the display cache in response to a result of the operation.

Disclosed is an event notification and time awareness system having a caregiver computing device and a user notification device, each coupled to a computer server. The user notification device displays event information pertaining to the user, who may have cognitive impairment, including diminished comprehension of time, resulting in difficulty remembering appointments, or basic events related to routine daily living. The computer server is programmed to send event information to the user notification device, including appointments, daily routine activities, or other special messages, in response to data input to the caretaker computing device by a caretaker that may be located remotely from the user. The user notification device includes a grayed-out screen to partially obscure past events while leaving current and future events unobscured.
