Managing page retirement for non-volatile memory
Methods, systems, and devices for retiring pages of a memory device are described. An ordered set of device information pages may be used to store device information. The device information pages may be in non-volatile memory. Each page may include a counter value of the number of accesses to indicate if the page includes valid data. A flag associated with the page may be set when the counter value reaches a threshold, to retire the page. Upon power-up, the device may determine which page to use, based on the flags. The flag may be stored in the page, or may be separate (e.g., fuse elements). If fuse elements are used, the page may store a programming-in-process flag to indicate when programming of the fuse element may not have been completed before power loss, in which case the programming may be restarted after power is restored.
Namespace encryption in non-volatile memory devices
A computer storage device having a host interface, a controller, non-volatile storage media, and firmware. The firmware instructs the controller to: limit a crypto key to be used in data access requests made in a first namespace allocated on the non-volatile storage media of the computer storage device; store data in the first namespace in an encrypted form that is to be decrypted using the crypto key; free a portion of the non-volatile storage media from the first namespace, the portion storing the data; and make the portion of the non-volatile storage media available in a second namespace without erasing the data stored in the portion of the non-volatile storage media.
Command selection policy with read priority
Apparatuses and methods related to command selection policy for electronic memory or storage are described. Commands to a memory controller may be prioritized based on a type of command, a timing of when one command was received relative to another command, a timing of when one command is ready to be issued to a memory device, or some combination of such factors. For instance, a memory controller may employ a first-ready, first-come, first-served (FRFCFS) policy in which certain types of commands (e.g., read commands) are prioritized over other types of commands (e.g., write commands). The policy may employ exceptions to such an FRFCFS policy based on dependencies or relationships among or between commands. An example can include inserting a command into a priority queue based on a category corresponding to respective commands, and iterating through a plurality of priority queues in order of priority to select a command to issue.
Control method for flash memory controller and associated flash memory controller and storage device
The present invention provides a control method of a flash memory controller, wherein the flash memory controller is configured to access a flash memory module, and the control method includes the steps of: receiving a settling command from a host device to configure a portion space of the flash memory module as a zoned namespace; receiving a write command from the host device to write data corresponding a first zone into a plurality of blocks of the flash memory module, wherein an access mode chose by the flash memory controller is determined based on a size of each zone and a size of each block.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING STORAGE DEVICE
A storage management method and a storage management apparatus are provided. In some embodiments, the method includes: detecting, during a preset length of time, a writing amount per time unit of service data of a target network service in a target storage; retrieving a correspondence relationship between the writing amount per time unit and an amount of a redundant storage, wherein the relationship indicates the amount of the redundant storage increases with the increasing of the writing amount per time unit; determining a first amount of the redundant storage corresponding to the first writing amount per time unit according to the correspondence relationship; and configuring the redundant storage for the target network service in accordance with the first amount of the redundant storage.
MEMORY CONTROLLER, STORAGE DEVICE, INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM, AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING MEMORY
Writing time is shortened even in a memory writing time for each access unit is not constant. A writing time prediction information holding unit holds writing time prediction information for predicting the writing time in a plurality of memory modules for each of a plurality of memory modules. A request selecting unit preferentially selects a write request of which longer writing time is predicted out of a plurality of write requests requiring writing in each of a plurality of memory modules on the basis of the writing time prediction information.
Method for writing to and reading out a non-volatile electronic memory
A method for writing to a non-volatile electronic memory with data words and assigned pieces of index information. The non-volatile electronic memory is initially filled exclusively with empty data frames. The empty data frames are overwritable with multi-data frames and/or individual data frames. A multi-data frame includes a selectable number of sequentially stored data words, and a multi-data frame header. A frame-type marker, the number of data words, and a selectable start index are stored in the multi-data frame header so that each data word is assignable a unique index value from an index interval by incrementing or decrementing. An individual data frame includes one data word and an individual data frame header. A frame-type marker and a selectable index value for the one data word of the individual data frame are stored in the individual data frame header.
DATA MANAGEMENT IN MULTIPLY-WRITEABLE FLASH MEMORIES
According to the present disclosure is provided a device and method for mapping management in a flash memory based on partitioning the memory to a main address space and a substitute space, each partition comprising locations in the memory that are denoted by at least three statues according to which locations are mapped from the main space to the substitute space while responsively modifying the statuses.
DATA STORAGE DEVICE AND DATA STORAGE METHOD FOR DETECTING CURRENTLY-USED LOGICAL PAGES
A data storage device utilized for storing a plurality of data includes a memory and a controller. The memory includes a plurality of blocks, and each of the blocks includes a plurality of physical pages. The controller is coupled to the memory and maps the logical pages to the physical pages of the memory. When the controller detects that a first logical page of the logical pages is a currently-used logical page, it detects whether or not the second logical page which belongs to the last logical page of the first logical page is a currently-used logical page in order to find what is truly the last currently-used logical page.
Configurable NVM set to tradeoff between performance and user space
An embodiment of an electronic apparatus may include one or more substrates, and logic coupled to the one or more substrates, the logic to determine a set of requirements for a persistent storage media based on input from an agent, dedicate one or more banks of the persistent storage media to the agent based on the set of requirements, and configure at least one of the dedicated one or more banks of the persistent storage media at a program mode width which is narrower than a native maximum program mode width for the persistent storage media. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
