Refreshable tactile display

A tactile display for dynamically reproducing content from an electronic device, such as a computer, tablet, mobile phone or other device, in a touch-sensory format, such as Braille. The tactile display includes a housing and a plurality of tactile elements. The tactile elements are movable relative to the housing between an extended position for engagement by a user and a retracted position at or inward of a surface of the housing.

Input device

An input device that enables various operations is proposed. A plurality of operating buttons (11) and direction keys (12) are arranged in an upper surface (17g). Lower surface buttons (31R, 31L) are arranged in a lower surface (17a). The lower surface buttons (31R, 31L) project downward from the lower surface (17a), have pressing target surfaces (31a) to be pressed by a finger of a user, and are arranged such that the pressing target surfaces (31a) are inclined with respect to a front edge (10a) of the input device (1). The lower surface buttons (31R, 31L) can be moved when the pressing target surfaces (31a) are pressed in a button rearward direction as a direction along the lower surface (17a).

A material handler comprises a motor, an interface device, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive an input from the interface device and can include a variable frequency drive (VFD). The controller provides a variable frequency drive (VFD) signal to the motor to control movement of one or more components of the material handler. If the interface device is inactive for a predetermined amount of time, the controller adjusts a frequency of the VFD signal from an operating frequency to a standby frequency with the standby frequency being lower than the operating frequency. Adjusting the frequency from the operating frequency to the standby frequency can include adjusting the frequency of the VFD signal to one or more intermediate frequencies. When adjusting the frequency of the VFD signal, the controller can skip at least one frequency or range of frequencies, for example, to avoid undesirable operating characteristics.

A slider structure for a keyboard comprising a housing, a depressible actuator disposed in the housing, and a chambered track configured to receive a balance bar structure, the balance bar structure operable to provide a structural support that resists a key cap coupled to the frame from tilting as a force applied at any point on the top surface of the key cap. When the depressible actuator is depressed, the depressible actuator is operable to push the balance bar structure causing the balance bar structure to rotate within the chambered track. The frame and depressible actuator are comprised of a rigid material and the chambered track is comprised of a compliant material that attenuates sound caused by the rotating of the balance bar structure within the chambered track.

A pilot training system includes a training terminal integrated with a pilot training seat with a seat pan having six degrees of freedom, wherein the training terminal is configured to exclusively provide and render a simulated flight-training environment and to output control signals to synchronize movement of the seat pan with the simulated environment. The system is transportable so that it can be used to provide flight training at a user-selected and repositionable location. The system also may include an instructor terminal located at an instructor site. The training site and the instructor site can be remotely located. The instructor may provide remote instruction or training to a trainee, for example by sending instruction inputs to the training terminal over the network in order to control aspects of the simulated environment.

Computer input devices

A sensing system for a computer input device. The sensing system comprises an actuator to attach to a key top or button. The actuator is moveable along an axis or hinged. The sensing system further comprises a biasing element to exert a biasing force on the actuator directed along the axis. The sensing system further comprises an actuator motion sensor associated with the actuator. The actuator motion sensor comprises a passive resonant circuit configured to be moved by the actuator and having a resonant frequency, an active resonant circuit configured to excite the passive resonant circuit at the resonant frequency, a sensor driver to drive the active resonant circuit with an RF drive signal at the resonant frequency, and a detector to detect a level of RF signal from a driven actuator motion sensor for sensing a position and/or velocity of the actuator.
