In a printing system, a terminal device generates a plurality of pieces of print job data based on a data format list and transmit the generated print job data to a first multifunction machine, the first multifunction machine stores a plurality of pieces of received print job data, and performs printing based on print job data having the data format supported by the first multifunction machine itself when the first multifunction machine itself receives a print instruction from a user, and the second multifunction machine receives print job data having the data format supported by the second multifunction machine itself from the first multifunction machine when the second multifunction machine itself receives a print instruction from a user and performs printing based on the received print job data.

A computer determines whether PDL data contained in a print job, which is obtained via a communication interface or an external interface, matches pre-conversion PDL data stored in a conversion rule in a non-volatile memory. When a type of converted PDL data associated with the pre-conversion PDL in the conversion rule matches a type of PDL data determined in a PJL converting process, PJL data that conversion is held is converted to the converted PDL data associated with the pre-conversion PJL data that matches the held PDL data in the conversion rule.

A method for configuring a raster image processor (RIP) for a digital printing system includes receiving a file for a print job; receiving or determining job characteristics of the print job or the file for the print job; receiving or determining hardware characteristics of hardware upon which the RIP is operating; inputting the job characteristics and the hardware characteristics into a trained artificial intelligence (AI) module; and selecting, using the trained AI module, a configuration or settings for the RIP for processing of the file based on the plurality of job characteristics and the plurality of hardware characteristics.

A non-transitory computer readable medium stores a program causing a computer to execute a process including: generating plural page description language (PDL) files written in plural types of PDLs for one portion of data; and performing control such that the generated plural PDL files and a different portion of the data other than the one portion are stored in an internal or external storage device in association with each other.

An image forming apparatus includes a controller configured to obtain PJL data via a data interface, and add target PJL data to the obtained PJL data with reference to filter data stored in a non-volatile memory. The target PJL data is PJL data intended for causing the image forming apparatus to perform a particular process. The filter data includes data for adding the target PJL data to the obtained PJL data.

An information processing apparatus includes one or more processors configured to perform operations including receiving information indicating a predetermined object from an image forming apparatus, determining whether the object indicated by the information is included in image data for which a printing instruction has been issued by a user, designating a format of the image data, to be transmitted to the image forming apparatus, based on a result of the determining, converting the image data into the designated format, and transmitting the converted image data to the image forming apparatus.

A printing system includes a print server and a relay device communicably connected with the print server and an image forming apparatus. The print server includes circuitry that checks whether electronic data to be printed is printable by the image forming apparatus in accordance with a print condition of the electronic data, causes the relay device to display a change screen for receiving a change of the print condition in a case where the electronic data is not printable by the image forming apparatus in accordance with the print condition, converts, in a case where the print condition is changed, the electronic data into print data printable by the image forming apparatus in accordance with the changed print condition, and transmits the print data to the relay device.

An image forming apparatus issues a content display trigger if a predetermined event related to a user operation is received. When the content display trigger is issued, the image forming apparatus acquires web content from a content server based on path information set on a signage setting screen, and displays the acquired web content. If a hyperlink in the web content is pressed on the displayed web content, the image forming apparatus downloads content to be printed that is the linked content, and displays a print dialog on the web content. The image forming apparatus prints the content to be printed if an instruction to print the content to be printed is issued using the print dialog.

A method of processing linearized and non-linearized Portable Document Format (PDF) files for printing comprises: determining by printer firmware if a printer driver detected that the PDF file is linearized; saving stream data of the PDF file by the printer firmware when the printer firmware determines the printer driver detected that the PDF file is linearized; and determining by the printer firmware if the PDF file is linearized when the PDF file is unidentified as being linearized by the printer driver, wherein the printer firmware identifies real and false linearization error during linearized processing and identifies and processes printing errors in a parallel manner during saving and interpreting stream data.

Even the case where combination of drawing commands (in particular, generation of a background-combined image) is performed on the application side, a print job that does not cause a difference in hue to arise is generated, which is caused by image processing accompanying printing processing.
