A print control apparatus is configured to transfer transparent protective ink onto an image printed on a substrate. The print control apparatus includes an extraction unit configured to extract a contour of a subject in the image, and a control unit configured to generate print data for transferring the protective ink using a printing apparatus, based on the extracted contour of the subject. The control unit generates the print data by assigning a high gradation value to a contour line corresponding to the extracted contour of the subject, assigning a low gradation value to a region corresponding to the subject, and assigning a mixture of the high gradation value and the low gradation value to an outer peripheral region of the subject.

Image processing apparatus and an image processing method for performing a correction process of a tone value of a pixel for smoothing a jaggy

With this invention, color shifting correction is performed first based on shifting amount information indicating a shifting amount with respect to the scanning direction on an image carrier of each image forming unit, and halftone processing is then performed, thus suppressing generation of moiré due to the color shifting correction, and forming a high-quality image. To this end, an image forming engine has color shifting amount storage units C, M, Y, and K (black) which store actual shifting amounts with respect to ideal scan directions on image carriers C, M, Y, and K in image forming units C, M, Y, and K. Color shifting correction amount arithmetic units C, M, Y, and K calculate color shifting correction amounts for respective color components on the basis of the stored color shifting amounts. Color shifting correction units C, M, Y, and K perform color shifting correction by converting coordinates upon reading out image data from bitmap memories C, M, Y, and K on the basis of the calculated color shifting correction amounts, and then perform tone correction. Data after tone correction undergo halftone processing by halftone processors. C, M, Y, and K. PWM processors C, M, Y, and K generate PWM signals for scanning, and output them to exposure units C, M, Y, and K of the respective image forming units.

Printer calibration

Certain examples described herein relate to printer calibration. In some cases, adjustment data is received, indicating an adjustment to be applied to a given colorant. A Neugebauer Primary area coverage (NPac) vector defining an operating set of Neugebauer Primaries (NPs) is obtained. Configuration data is determined, dependent on the operating set of NPs. The configuration data maps colorant adjustments to relationships between NPs in the operating set, for both an increase and a decrease in the given colorant. In some cases, the configuration data and the adjustment parameters are used to identify first and second subsets of the operating set of NPs. The NPac vector is adjusted by decreasing an area coverage of an NP in the first subset and complementarily increasing an area coverage of an NP in the second subset.

The controller is configured to replace color information of an object included in the input image data with an achromatic signal value, determine, based on an achromatic signal value corresponding to color information of a pixel of interest in the input image data, whether the pixel of interest satisfies a predetermined condition, and perform enhancement processing on the color information of the pixel of interest in a case where the pixel of interest is determined not to satisfy the predetermined condition.

ADJUSTING COLORANT VALUES IN IMAGES TO BE PRINTED

A colorant value adjustment method is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining data defining colorant values for a plurality of print addressable locations representative of pixels of an image to be printed during a printing operation, wherein each colorant value is representative of an amount of colorant to be delivered from a print nozzle to a corresponding print addressable location as the print nozzle moves between the print addressable locations during the printing operation. The method comprises determining, based on the obtained data, a measure of time that the print nozzle is not to deposit colorant immediately prior reaching a first print addressable location. The method comprises determining, based on the determined measure of time, an adjustment to be applied to the colorant value at the first print addressable location. The method comprises applying the adjustment to the colorant value for the first print addressable location. An apparatus and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.
