INVENTORY SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING AND COUNTING POTENTIALLY RETAINED SURGICAL ITEMS
An inventory system configured for detecting and counting potentially retained surgical items within a body of a patient includes a dual detection tag, a signal generator, and an antenna operably coupled to the signal generator. The dual detection tag includes a beacon tag configured to transmit a first return signal at a first frequency when energized and a RFID tag affixed configured to transmit a second return signal at a second frequency when energized. The signal generator is configured to generate an energizing signal for the beacon tag and/or the RFID tag. The antenna configured to receive the first return signal transmitted by at least one of the beacon tag or the second return signal transmitted by the RFID tag.
Coupling frames for smartcards with various module opening shapes
Coupling frames (CF) for smartcards (SC) having contactless capability. Openings (MO) for transponder chip modules (TCM) may have various non-rectangular shapes. Slits in the coupling frames may have various shapes, and may extend from anywhere in the opening to anywhere on the periphery (outer edge) of the coupling frame. The slit may be filled. A slit area of the coupling frame may be reinforced. The coupling frame may be one or more metal layers in the card. The slits of two coupling frames may have different shapes than one another. The coupling frame may constitute the entire card body. The coupling frame may be smaller than the overall card body.
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND ARTICLE INCLUDING THE SAME
A wireless communication device includes an antenna resonance circuit and a wireless IC element. The antenna resonance circuit includes a loop-shaped antenna that performs wireless communication by generating a magnetic field and series inductors connected in series to the loop-shaped antenna. The antenna resonance circuit has a resonant frequency corresponding to a carrier frequency. The wireless IC element is connected to the antenna resonance circuit and processes transmission and reception signals. An inductance value of the series inductors is larger than an inductance value of the loop-shaped antenna, and the series inductors are covered with a magnetic material.
TAMPER-RESISTANT TRANSACTION CARD AND METHOD OF PROVIDING A TAMPER-RESISTANT TRANSACTION CARD
A dynamic transaction card that is manufactured using conductive plastic jumpers that will dissolve when in contact with a solvent used to tamper with the dynamic transaction card. Internal components of a dynamic transaction card may be manufactured using a synthetic or semi-synthetic organic material, such as, for example, plastics. These materials may be conductive to provide functionality to a dynamic transaction card, such as a connection between an integrated circuit and other card components such that when the materials dissolve, the connections are broken and the dynamic transaction card may be inactive due to the loss of various connections.
MEDICATION CONTAINERS INCORPORATING WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH CONTAINERS
Medication containers are provided with a body having a wireless communication device secured to a lower surface of the body. The wireless communication device includes an RFID chip and a slot-loop hybrid antenna electrically coupled to the RFID chip. The antenna includes a conductor sheet defining a slot and an aperture. The body defines a downwardly extending cell that is configured to receive a medication, with the aperture of the conductor sheet receiving at least a portion of the cell. The conductor sheet may include a plurality of apertures and the body may define a plurality of cells, with each aperture receiving a different one of the cells. A cover may be secured to an upper surface of the body to enclose the medication within the cell. If the medication container includes a plurality of cells and a frangible cover, it may be configured as a blister pack.
Transaction card incorporating aluminum alloys
Disclosed are examples of transaction cards incorporating aluminum or aluminum alloys. The aluminum can be extracted or recycled from a retired aircraft. Other materials can also be incorporated into the transaction card to provide sufficient weight and rigidity to the transaction card. Stainless steel can be incorporated into the construction of the card in combination with aluminum to provide a desired user experience.
EAR TAG FOR LIVESTOCK AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN EAR TAG FOR LIVESTOCK
It describes an ear tag for livestock including: a plastic substrate including means to apply the ear tag to an ear of an animal; an UHF inlay coupled to a flexible flat portion of the plastic substrate, the UHF inlay including a substrate, an antenna on the substrate and a microchip connected to the antenna. The ear tag includes a plastic film; a predetermined portion of the plastic film is laminated on the plastic substrate and forms a closed pocket; the UHF inlay is enclosed in the pocket and is at least in part movable independently from the plastic substrate and the plastic film in the pocket.
Smart cards with metal layer(s) and methods of manufacture
Metal layers of a smartcard may be provided with slits overlapping at least a portion of a module antenna in an associated transponder chip module disposed in the smartcard so that the metal layer functions as a coupling frame. One or more metal layers may be pre-laminated with plastic layers to form a metal core or clad subassembly for a smartcard, and outer printed and/or overlay plastic layers may be laminated to the front and/or back of the metal core. Front and back overlays may be provided. Pre-laminated metal layers having an array of card sites, with each position having a defined area prepared for the later implanting of a transponder chip module characterized by different sized perforations and gaps around this defined area adjacent to the RFID slit(s), to facilitate the quick removal of the metal in creating a pocket to accept a transponder chip module.
LAYERED STRUCTURES WITH CUTTING LINES
The invention is related to a layered structure with at least one layer a. of a material with a VST≥85° C. comprising at least one cutting line b. reaching through the whole thickness of the layered structure surrounding at least one first portion which is extractable and reinsertable manually from the layered structure as well as a production process for such a layered structure.
OMNIDIRECTIONAL MAGNETIC SURFACE FOR TRANSACTION CARDS
This assembly is directed to an encoded card that can be used for transactions, identifications, access controls and the like. The assembly can include a core having a first surface and a second surface (e.g., front and back), content disposed on the first surface or second surface taken from the group consisting of issuing institution, holder name, account number, expiration date, security information and other content and any combination thereof; a magnetic layer affixed to the second layer wherein the magnetic layer covers the majority of the second surface; and one or more areas defined in the magnetic area encoded with data that can be consistent with ISO standard 7813.
