Stackable integrated circuit cards

Systems and methods allow for the integrated circuit cards (ICCs) to removably couple to each other and transmit information to an access device as a single device. One among the two or more ICCs coupled together may read data from the remaining ICCs and provide the data to an access device via contactless communication. The ICC may include a substrate; an integrated circuit embedded in the substrate; input ports exposed on a first surface of the substrate, and output ports exposed on a second surface of the substrate. The input ports and the output ports are electrically coupled to the integrated circuit. The output ports are configured to be removably coupled to the input ports of a second ICC.

Radio-frequency-identification-based smart fastener

A system may include a fastener having a trench formed in a side of a head of the fastener. The system may further include a magneto-elastic component spanning the trench and attached to the head of the fastener on both sides of the trench. The system may also include a coil wrapped around the magneto-elastic component between both sides of the trench. The system may include a radio frequency identification (RFID) circuit, where the coil may be electrically connected to the RFID circuit resulting in a resonance response frequency that is a function of a strain level applied to the magneto-elastic component.

A wireless communication device includes an antenna resonance circuit and a wireless IC element. The antenna resonance circuit includes a loop-shaped antenna that performs wireless communication by generating a magnetic field and series inductors connected in series to the loop-shaped antenna. The antenna resonance circuit has a resonant frequency corresponding to a carrier frequency. The wireless IC element is connected to the antenna resonance circuit and processes transmission and reception signals. An inductance value of the series inductors is larger than an inductance value of the loop-shaped antenna, and the series inductors are covered with a magnetic material.

The controller is configured to: tune the impedance of at least one component of an impedance matching circuit to vary an impedance transformation provided by the impedance matching circuit; determine at least one indication of power output from the circuit, each at least one indication corresponding to an impedance transformation; and identify one of a plurality of modes of the circuit as an operating mode, based on the at least one indication, wherein the impedance matching circuit provides a different impedance transformation in each mode.

Systems and methods for providing power to a multi-purpose transaction card

A controller of a transaction card may cause the transaction card to be in a first state. The transaction card may include a battery and at least one other component. In the first state, the battery does not provide power to the at least one other component of the transaction card. The transaction card may receive a signal from a near-field communication (NFC) device and may cause the transaction card to be in a second state based on receiving the signal. In the second state, the battery provides power to the at least one other component of the transaction card. The transaction card may perform a transaction based on the transaction card being in the second state.

An RFID tag for stably holding an RFID inlet raised and spaced apart with respect to an article, on which the tag is placed. The RFID tag is raised from a surface of the article by being flexed to bring the RFID tag into contact with a head portion of a banding band. A through hole defined in a tag base allows insertion of the banding band. The hole includes a first through bore and a second through bore. The tag base includes a base region for raising a holding region and a holding region for an RFID inlet for being reused. The base region raises the RFID inlet with respect to the article, and the holding region having the RFID inlet is raised from the base region.
