Card reader and foreign object detection method for card reader
11710004 · 2023-07-25 · ·

A card reader includes a card conveyance path comprising upper and a lower conveyance paths to convey a card inserted into a device; and a reading unit that reads information on the card. Lower concave and convex portions are provided on an upper surface of the lower conveyance path behind the reading unit. Upper concave and convex portions are provided on a lower surface of the upper conveyance path to be fitted to the lower concave and convex portion. A pressing unit provides a fitted state of the lower and upper concave and convex portions when no object is present. A detection sensor detects a state where an interval between the lower and upper concave and convex portions is widened. The detection sensor detects the state where the interval is widened, to recognize that an object is inserted between the lower and upper concave and convex portions.

Disclosed is a method of operating an integrated circuit (IC) card that is configured to communicate with a card reader and includes registered biometric information and registered PIN information. The method includes determining whether biometric information received from a user and the registered biometric information on the IC card match, in response to determining that the biometric information and the registered biometric information do not match, outputting to the card reader, a first response indicating a biometric verification fail, determining whether PIN information received from the card reader and the registered PIN information on the IC card match responsive to receiving a PIN verification request from the card reader that was based on the first response indicating the biometric verification fail, and outputting to the card reader a second response indicating whether the PIN information and the registered PIN information match.

CONNECTORS WITH AUDIBLE FEEDBACK AND CONTACT PROTECTION

Connector receptacles that can provide audible feedback to inform a user that a card has been properly inserted, and can include structures to protect contacts in a connector receptacle from damage due to an improper card insertion. An example can provide a connector receptacle having a click module to provide audible feedback indicating that a card has been fully inserted. Another example can provide a connector receptacle having movable contacts that can remain out of an insertion path until the card is at least partially inserted.

CARD READER

A card reader includes a card lock mechanism preventing pulling-out of a card jammed in a card conveyance passage, and an operation part for manually releasing lock of the card caused by the card lock mechanism. The card lock mechanism includes a motor, and a lock member which is provided with a blocking pawl for preventing pulling-out of the card and is moved between a contact position where the blocking pawl contacts the card and a retreated position where the blocking pawl is retreated from the card conveyance passage. The operation part includes a rotation member in a tube shape having an inner circumference wall surrounding an output shaft of the motor, and an engaging member provided on the inner circumference wall and extended along a circumferential direction of the output shaft and engageable with an outer peripheral face of the output shaft. The engaging member is elastically deformable.

The present technique relates to an information processing device, an information processing method, a record medium and a program which can prevent hot insertion and extraction of an SIM card. A removing unit removes a tray storing a storage member. A removal detector detects an operation of starting removal of the tray before the removing unit removes the tray. A power controller stopping power supplying to the storage member when the removal detector detects the operation of starting the removal of the tray may be employed. The present technique may be applied, e.g., to a personal computer.

Apparatus for ejecting at least one integrated circuit card

An apparatus is described. In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises a housing; a tray; an ejector; a push member having two positions, the push member is configured to receive an external force for moving the push member and to operate the ejector to eject the tray to an ejected open position when the push member is moved to a second position and to maintain in the second position; and a switch comprising two electric position; the switch is configured to switch to a first electric position when receiving the external force, and the push member is configured to maintain the switch in the first electric position when the push member is moved to the second position causing the tray to eject; when the tray is returned to a retracted closed position, the push member is moved to a first position causing the switch to switch to a second electric position.
