The control method may include operations for processing a transaction (TR1) with a terminal (T); receiving during this transaction a predetermined transaction command requiring a processing time, by the smart card, long enough to allow a recharging of the battery to at least a first predetermined threshold charge level; and, upon detection (S32) of this transaction command, triggering the recharging of the battery (8) by using a power supply delivered by the terminal (T) to reach at least the first predetermined threshold charge level.
