Tamper detection based on flexible member connecting circuitry elements
A point of sale (POS) device includes tamper detection circuitry in which one or more flexible members that each include multiple side-by-side conductive traces connect two circuit boards, optionally so that one circuit board must remain very close to the other if the device remains in a secure un-tampered-with state. Severance of a trace of the flexible member, or disconnection of the flexible member from either circuit board, may result in unexpected voltage sensor readings indicative of a tamper attempt.
Tamper detection based on removal of fastener from recess
A point of sale (POS) device includes a flexible member with two exposed conductive areas that are part of a tamper detection circuit. While a recess receives a screw, the screw passes through apertures in the flexible member and in a conductive gasket, and the conductive gasket connects the two exposed conductive areas to one another, closing the tamper detection circuit. Adhesives affix the flexible member to the screw and the conductive gasket to the recess opening so that removing the screw from the recess separates the conductive gasket from the two exposed conductive areas, opening the tamper detection circuit.
Methods to Prevent Accidental Triggers for Off-Platter Detection Systems
Techniques for preventing accidental triggers for off-platter detection systems are disclosed herein. An example system includes a weigh platter having a first surface; a scale configured to measure a weight of an object placed on the first surface; an off-platter detection assembly configured to detect an off-platter condition based on a portion of the object resting on a second surface off the weigh platter and/or some portion of the object extending beyond a perimeter of the weigh platter; a processor in communication with the scale and the off-platter detection assembly; and a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to generate an alert responsive to at least: (i) the off-platter detection assembly detecting the off-platter condition and (ii) a measurement by the scale of a stable weight greater than a threshold weight, for a time period greater than a threshold time period.
CHECKOUT-PAYMENT DEVICE AND CHECKOUT-PAYMENT SYSTEM
A checkout-payment device includes a controller configured to recognize items to be purchased by a user from an image captured by a camera, make checkout and payment for the recognized items, and perform face recognition to identify the user based on an image of the user’s face captured by a second camera, wherein, upon recognition of an age-restricted item, after identifying a user, the controller performs age verification based on information on the age of the identified user to determine whether the user is subject to the age restrictions. The device also includes a touch screen display configured to display results of operations for item recognition, checkout and payment, and face recognition.
Sales data processing apparatus and method
A sales data processing apparatus includes a display, a product scanner to obtain a commodity code from a product being registered in a sales transaction, a storage unit to store journal data including product information for registered. A controller is configured to record product information for products registered in the sales transaction and output a notification of an error in the sales transaction when detected. The notification is output to the display screen and includes information regarding resolution of the error. The controller executes a first countermeasure for resolving the error, then stops the sales transaction if the error is not resolved. The controller then executes a second countermeasure after the sales transaction has been stopped and starts a new transaction if the error is resolved by the second countermeasure.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
An information processing apparatus includes a processing circuit. The processing circuit has programmed instructions to acquire a first number of commodities specified to be purchased based on first data acquired by a first sensor, acquire a second number of commodities stored in a storing body that stores commodities to be purchased based on second data acquired by a second sensor, compare the first number of commodities with the second number of commodities, and provide a notification to a display device in response to the first number of commodities being different that the second number of commodities.
PRODUCT ID ENHANCED OFF-PLATTER DETECTION SYSTEM
An example product identification and weighing apparatus for use with a POS terminal includes a weigh platter; a scale configured to measure a weight of the item when placed on the weigh platter; an off-platter detection assembly configured to detect an off-platter condition; a product identification assembly configured to identify the item; a communication interface configured to communicate with the POS terminal; a processor in communication with the scale, the off-platter detection assembly, and the communication interface; and a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the object recognition and weighing apparatus to, responsive to detecting the off-platter condition, prevent a transmission of the identified item to the POS terminal until the off-platter condition is no longer detected.
COMMODITY RECOGNITION SYSTEM, METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
A commodity recognition system, a method, and a non-transitory computer readable medium capable of reducing a possibility that a payment is carried out without recognizing mis-recognition of a commodity are provided. The commodity recognition system according to the present disclosure includes an image acquisition unit, an inference unit, and a display unit. The image acquisition unit acquires an image of an article including a payment article when a user makes a payment. The inference unit identifies the article included in the image, and infers whether the identified article is a payment article or a non-payment article by referring to identification information of an article and information indicating whether the article is the payment article or not, both of which are associated with each other and stored in advance. The display unit displays the payment article and the non-payment article for the user while distinguishing them from each other.
Systems and methods for cloud-based testing of POS devices
A computer-implemented method for cloud-based testing of a payment network may include receiving a test configuration for testing a payment processing network, configuring a simulated worker generator for generating a plurality of simulated workers according to the received test configuration, reading commands to be executed by each simulated worker among the plurality of simulated workers from a command bank according to the received test configuration, configuring the plurality of simulated workers according to the commands and the received test configuration, starting a swarm test of the payment processing network by the plurality of simulated workers, reading results of the swarm test from the plurality of simulated workers, and saving the results to storage.
Determination of untidy item return to an inventory location using weight
A user may pick an item from a first inventory location, such as in a lane on a shelf, and may return it another location that is assigned to another type of item. Described are techniques to generate tidiness data that is indicative of whether an item has been returned to an inventory location assigned to that type of item. As items are taken, information about the type of item taken and its weight are stored. When an increase in weight at a lane indicates a return of an item to the lane, the weight of the return is compared to the stored weight of the items previously taken by a user. If the weights correspond to within a threshold value, the type of item associated with the stored weight is deemed to be returned and tidiness data indicative of a tidy return of the item to its appointed lane may be generated.
