A client device is configured to communicate with an access point over a wireless network, exchanging data with the access point over a selected communication channel. The client device stores an identifier of the selected communication channel. After the wireless connection to the access point has ended, the client device initiates a process to reconnect to the access point over the selected communication channel using the stored identifier.

A home occupancy status and information system may be used to track information about human and animal occupants within a structure, and provide information to first responders in the event of an emergency. A rescue beacon may be positioned near an entrance to a home, and when an audible alarm or alarm signal is detected by the beacon it will provide visual alerts and/or audible alerts to attract the attention of a first responder, and will provide information on occupants in the home, such as a number of pets, a number of humans, and other information. A rescue device may also be carried by each pet or other occupant in the house, which may be activated by a wireless signal from a rescue beacon, or by a detected alarm audio/signal. When activated, the rescue device will provide audible and/or visual alerts to aid first responders in locating the occupant.

A medical fluid delivery system and apparatus for remote machine updating and control are disclosed. An example medical fluid delivery apparatus includes a processor and a dialysis fluid circuit including at least one dialysis fluid pump. The processor is configured to receive a disinfection input to begin a disinfection procedure and cause the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform a disinfection procedure on the dialysis fluid circuit using a disinfection fluid. The processor is also configured to, after the disinfection procedure is complete, start a disinfection timer. When a dialysis input is received before the disinfection timer reaches zero, the processor enables a dialysis treatment to be performed. When the disinfection timer reaches zero before the dialysis input is received, the processor prevents the dialysis treatment from being performed until the disinfection procedure is performed again.

Systems, methods, and computer program products for detecting, locating, and identifying gunshots. In response to detecting a discharge of a firearm, a discharge alert indicating one or more characteristics of the discharge is transmitted to a gunshot location system. The one or more characteristics of the discharge are compared to one or more characteristics of one or more gunshots detected by the gunshot location system based on acoustic signals received at one or more listening stations. In response to finding a match between the one or more characteristics of the discharge and the one or more characteristics of acoustically detected gunshot, the gunshot is associated with the firearm.

A wireless communication tape, dispenser of the same and methods of usage of the wireless tape and the dispenser in asset tracking applications are disclosed. The wireless communication tape can be manufactured in an ultrathin form factor by laminating a stack of layers to impart functionality to the wireless communication tape. Methods of use and operation of the wireless communication tape are disclosed to save battery resources of the communication tape.

Provided is a setting method of a Wi-Fi doorbell (2), in which a Wi-Fi doorbell (2) comprising a camera capable of reading a two-dimensional code and a mobile communication terminal (4) comprising a display unit (6) capable of displaying the two-dimensional code are used. The setting method comprises steps of causing the display unit (6) to display a two-dimensional code in which password information for enabling the Wi-Fi doorbell (2) to connect to a network (5) via a Wi-Fi router (20) is embedded reading the two-dimensional code by the camera (9) of the Wi-Fi doorbell (2); and setting the Wi-Fi doorbell (2) to a state where the Wi-Fi doorbell (2) can perform communication with a remotely disposed server (3) via the Wi-Fi router (20), based on the read two-dimensional code.

A smart speaker system is used as an emergency notification system. The smart speaker has a loudspeaker, a microphone, a visual display, processing capability, and an emergency flasher in the same enclosure. The smart speaker is in communication with a network-connected server providing at least distribution of emergency notification messages to appropriate clients. The amount of audio processing shared between the smart speaker and the server may vary, depending on the requirements of the installation site. Once an emergency voice communication is detected in the microphone output, the system generates a confirmation message that is played over the loudspeaker. Upon detection of an appropriate voice response from the user, the system generates an emergency response message, sends it to the distribution network, and activates the visual display, loudspeaker, and emergency flasher. Noise cancellation circuitry prevents loudspeaker interference with microphone output.

An optical connector includes a first sub-assembly that is factory-installed to a first end of an optical fiber and a second sub-assembly that is field-installed to the first end of the optical fiber. The optical fiber and first sub-assembly can be routed through a structure (e.g., a building) prior to installation of the second sub-assembly. Disclosed is an event notification and time awareness system having a caregiver computing device and a user notification device, each coupled to a computer server. The user notification device displays event information pertaining to the user, who may have cognitive impairment, including diminished comprehension of time, resulting in difficulty remembering appointments, or basic events related to routine daily living. The computer server is programmed to send event information to the user notification device, including appointments, daily routine activities, or other special messages, in response to data input to the caretaker computing device by a caretaker that may be located remotely from the user. The user notification device includes a grayed-out screen to partially obscure past events while leaving current and future events unobscured.

A network management system manages the operation of a home security system in a communication network, such as a mesh network. The home security system can include multiple components such as a camera, a lighting device, a security alarm, a doorbell switch and doorbell chime, and a fingerprint sensor, which connect with the communication network to perform various operations. The network management system monitors environmental parameters of the communication network, such as parameters associated with the access points and components of the home security system, determines an access point to which a component of the home security system is to be connected for efficient operation of the home security system, and connects the component to the communication network via the determined access point.
