20230039738 · 2023-02-09 ·

An approach is provided for accessing traffic impact caused by individual driving behaviors. For example, the approach involves receiving, by one or more processors, sensor data collected from one or more sensors of a vehicle traveling on a road network. The approach also involves processing, by the processors, the sensor data to determine one or more driving behaviors associated with the vehicle. The approach further involves computing, by the processors, a traffic impact index based on the one or more driving behaviors and at least one contextual parameter associated with the vehicle, the road network, a driver of the vehicle, or a combination thereof. The traffic impact index represents an estimated impact of the vehicle on a traffic flow within at least a portion of the road network. The approach further involves providing, by the processors, the traffic impact index as an output.

Apparatus and methods for predicting wrong-way-driving events
11551548 · 2023-01-10 · ·

An apparatus, method and computer program product are provided for predicting wrong-way-driving events. A WWD event defines an event in which a vehicle travels in a direction opposing a traffic direction designated for a portion of a road. In one example, the apparatus estimates a likelihood of portion of the road inducing a wrong-way-driving (WWD) event by using a machine learning model as a function of map data, sensor data, or a combination thereof. If the likelihood satisfies a threshold, the apparatus updates a map layer to indicate the WWD event at the portion of the road.

SYSTEM AND METHODS OF ADAPTIVE OBJECT-BASED DECISION MAKING FOR AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

A method may include obtaining input information relating to an environment in which an autonomous vehicle (AV) operates, the input information describing at least one of: a state of the AV, an operation of the AV within the environment, a property of the environment, or an object included in the environment. The method may include identifying a first object in the vicinity of the AV based on the obtained input information. The method may include determining a first object rule corresponding to the first object, the first object rule indicating suggested driving behavior for interacting with the first object. The method may include determining a first decision that follows the first object rule and sending an instruction to a control system of the AV, the instruction describing a given operation of the AV responsive to the first object rule according to the first decision.

Warning system and method for two-wheeled vehicle

A warning system and method are provided. The warning system includes a plurality of sensing apparatuses and a server. The sensing apparatuses are used for sensing a driving trajectory of each of a plurality of two-wheeled vehicles. The server compares the driving trajectories with an accident hotspot list to determine whether at least one first driving trajectory matches an accident hotspot location, wherein the accident hotspot list is generated by a plurality of driving behavior events corresponding to each of the two-wheeled vehicles. The server generates a warning message to remind a first driver of a first two-wheeled vehicle corresponding to the at least one first driving trajectory when determining that the at least one first driving trajectory matches the accident hotspot location.

Data processing system communicating with a map data processing system to generate a display of one or more segments of one or more vehicle routes

Systems and methods are disclosed for generating a display of a navigation map. The system may comprise a historical data source device having, for example, a historical data source computer and a database storing historical data associated with one or more of vehicle accident data, traffic data, vehicle volume data, vehicle density data, road characteristic data, or weather data. The system may comprise a map data processing device having a map data processing computer and memory storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the map data processing computer, cause the map data processing device to, for example, determine, based on a location determining device, a location of a vehicle. The map data processing system may determine one or more historical factors based on the location of the vehicle. The map data processing system may receive, from the historical data source device and for the location, historical data associated with the one or more historical factors. Based on the location of the vehicle, one or more real time factors and real time data associated with the one or more real time factors may be calculated. The map data processing system may calculate, using the one or more historical factors and the one or more real time factors, a navigation score for each segment of a route from the location to a destination location. The map data processing system may determine one or more colors for each navigation score and/or generate a display of a navigation map comprising the one or more colors.

20180012486 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A method is described for performing a real time analysis of traffic flow control device related data using a plurality of vehicles connected in at least one vehicle cell network. The method compares position data from vehicles defining a traffic flow with received data for a traffic flow control device and geometry and topology data concerning a transport engineering construction related to the traffic flow control device to evaluate if a discrepancy can be detected between the geometry and topology data concerning the transport engineering construction and the traffic flow defined by the vehicles positions. The method may be used for updating and/or finding errors in the geometry and topology data concerning the transport engineering construction.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MAINTAINING A DATABASE COMPRISING REPORTED TRAFFIC-AFFECTING EVENTS

The system receives a response from the first vehicle, which response indicates whether or not the expected position was at least partly unobstructedly observable by the first vehicle. The response further indicates—if the expected position was at least partly unobstructedly observable—whether or not the first traffic-affecting event was at least partly detected by the first vehicle.
