In a matrix device having two or more systems of electrode groups such as X and Y systems, the one or more electrode groups are grouped into groups each consisting of a plurality of pixel electrodes, connection wires are branched off and connected to the pixel electrodes so that the same signal is not supplied to the pixel electrodes of the same group but the same signal is supplied to one pixel electrode of two or more groups, switching elements are provided corresponding to the individual pixel electrodes, and a gate electrode and a gate insulating film of the switching elements are used in common in the same group. Accordingly, in the matrix device and manufacturing of the matrix device, the number of connection wires and driver ICs is reduced.

A display device includes a display panel that includes a first display area and a second display area, a data driving circuit which drives a plurality of data lines, a scan driving circuit which drives a plurality of scan lines, and a driving controller which controls the data driving circuit and the scan driving circuit such that the first display area is driven at a first driving frequency, and the second display area is driven at a second driving frequency lower than the first driving frequency during a multi-frequency mode, where the driving controller receives an image signal and provides to the data driving circuit an image data signal obtained by compensating for a gamma level of the image signal corresponding to the second display area during the multi-frequency mode.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method of driving display, and a display device. The method of driving display includes: scanning, progressively or rows by rows, a plurality of sub-pixels arranged in an N×M array, to turn on each row of sub-pixels scanned, so that a duration in which two adjacent rows of sub-pixels are simultaneously in an ON state is greater than or equal to two times a unit scanning time, wherein the unit scanning time is a time required for scanning a row of sub-pixels, N is an integer greater than 1, and M is an integer greater than 1; and applying data signals to at least two rows of sub-pixels simultaneously in the ON state, so that a duration of applying the data signals to each row of sub-pixels is greater than the unit scanning time.

METHODS FOR DRIVING ELECTRO-OPTIC DISPLAYS
A method for driving electro-optic displays including a layer of electro-optic material disposed between a common electrode and a backplane including an array of pixel electrodes, each coupled to a pixel transistor. The method for driving includes apportioning a displayable region of the electro-optic display into N BRAID line groups, where each of the N BRAID line groups is associated with a frame buffer. The method also includes receiving first image data comprising optical state data for the entire displayable region of the electro-optic display, and sequentially writing subsets of the first image data to each of the N frame buffers, wherein each of the N frame buffers is written with data corresponding to the corresponding BRAID line group. The method also includes sequentially updating portions of the displayable region of the electro-optic display based on the data in each of the N frame buffers.
