Apparatuses and methods for superposition based wave synthesis
The invention provides apparatus and methods for interference based wave synthesis. The invention comprises (i) receiving information defining output wave characteristics, said output wave characteristics comprising at least an output wave frequency B, and an output signal amplitude M, (ii) determining a constant value A and (iii) driving a first input wave generator to generate a first input wave and (iv) driving a second input wave generator to generate a second input wave, such that the interfered wave synthesized by interference of the first input wave and the second input wave has output wave characteristics defined by the received information.
Adaptation and Modification of a Theremin System
A musical instrument with novel configurations and performance techniques that can play notes and scale tones is disclosed. The musical instrument implements design and ergonomic changes to a Theremin's traditional configuration and use. The musical instrument includes an additional sound generation device such as an actuator that is operated to provide rhythm and tonal results. The musical instrument includes a pitch antenna that is configured in a horizontal position, which creates a different plane of reference with respect to performance motions employed for modifying the pitch. The musical instrument allows for a user to play notes and scale tones in a standing, seated, or ambulatory position. Improved playing interfaces, accessory items, and other characteristics for enhancing the playing of the musical instrument are provided.

ASSEMBLIES FOR GENERATION OF SOUND
The invention provides assemblies for production of sound using a plurality of configurations, including in one embodiment, surfaces that may be fixed or moveable relative to each other. These surfaces may be electromagnetic, electrostatic, piezoelectric, transducer implemented, thermally activated, permanently magnetized, or activated by any other means, including but not limited to mechanical activation. The surfaces may in a variety of configurations be free floating, constrained, levitated or combinations thereof. The surfaces themselves may be foldable, rollable, expandable, specialized or any combinations thereof.

Oscillatory timbres for musical synthesis through synchronous ring modulation
Methods and systems for generating oscillatory timbres for musical synthesis through synchronous ring modulation are described. An example method performing hard synchronization comprising using first and second oscillators, the first oscillator being a fundamental oscillator which provides a fundamental frequency, the second oscillator being a modulation oscillator operable at a frequencies higher than the first oscillator; and in response to the fundamental oscillator completing its cycle, synchronizing the modulation oscillator to the original point of its waveform. Ring modulation may be performed on the synchronized output by multiplying it by a waveform of the fundamental oscillator, such that the ring modulation is synchronized to produce a variety of oscillatory timbres. The method can create a variety of unique sounds having musically pleasing characteristics. A real-time audio signal can be used instead of the first oscillator to produce dynamically varying timbres.
