Method for operating a hearing device, and hearing device
A method operates a hearing device which performs active noise suppression for suppressing noise signals having one or more frequency components. An audiogram is provided which specifies a hearing threshold of a user of the hearing device as a function of frequency, wherein by using the audiogram it is determined which frequency components of the noise are audible to the user and which are not audible. The noise suppression is operated selectively by suppressing audible frequency components of the noise and by not suppressing inaudible frequency components of the noise. A corresponding hearing device is operated according to the method.
Automatic active noise reduction (ANR) control to improve user interaction
A method performed by a wearable audio output device worn by a user is provided for controlling external noise attenuated by wearable audio output device. A speech is detected from a user wearing the wearable audio output device, wherein the audio output device has active noise reduction turned on. It is determined, based on the detecting, that the user desires to speak to a subject in the vicinity of the user. In response to the determining, a level of noise reduction is reduced to enable the user to hear sounds external to the audio output device. It is determined that the user desires to speak to the subject by detecting at least one condition of a plurality of conditions.

Adaptive equalizer, acoustic echo canceller device, and active noise control device
A variable update step size is determined in proportion to a magnitude ratio or magnitude difference between a first residual signal and a second residual signal. The first residual signal is obtained by using adaptive filter coefficient sequence, where the adaptive filter coefficient sequence has been obtained in previous operations of the adaptive equalizer. The second residual signal is obtained by using a prior update adaptive filter coefficient sequence, where the prior update adaptive filter coefficient sequence is obtained by performing a coefficient update with an arbitrary prior update step size on the adaptive filter coefficient sequence having been obtained in previous operations of the adaptive equalizer.
Background noise reduction in voice communication

In some examples, a system configured to cancel background noise in voice communication may include a user device configured to capture a background sound; and a server configured to receive the background sound captured by the user device, identify a source of the background sound from among a plurality of predetermined sound sources, and generate a reference background sound based at least in part on the identified source.
APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING ENGINE NOISE REFLECTING ENGINE VIBRATION AND DRIVING CONDITIONS
An apparatus for controlling engine noise reflecting engine vibration and driving conditions includes a sound generator that generates reinforcement noise in order to reinforce non-linear engine noise. The apparatus includes a vibration sensor measuring engine vibration as a noise source of the engine, a signal processing controller receiving the signal of the vibration sensor in real time and controlling the sound generator so that the engine noise may maintain linearity, and an amplifier receiving and then amplifying a control signal of the signal processing controller to transfer the amplified control signal to the sound generator.
Systems and methods for use of adaptive secondary path estimate to control equalization in an audio device
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an adjustable equalization filter may have a response that generates an equalized source audio signal from a source audio signal to account for effects of changes in an electro-acoustical path of the source audio signal to a transducer. An equalizer coefficient control block may adapt the response of the adjustable equalization filter in response to changes in a response of a secondary path estimate filter for modeling the electro-acoustical path of a source audio signal through the transducer, wherein a response of the secondary path estimate filter is adapted in conformity with an error microphone signal indicative of the acoustic output of the transducer.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ACTIVELY INFLUENCING SOUND
A system has a sound generator (20) that generates superimposed sound to a sound to be manipulated. An error sensor (50) measures sound and outputs a corresponding feedback signal (e′(n)). A signal generator (91) generates a sound signal (y(n)). A controller (92) generates a control signals (λ.sub.1(n)) and (λ.sub.2(n)). The adder (94) subtracts one control signal (λ.sub.2(n)) from the feedback signal (e′(n)) and outputs a modified feedback signal (en(n)) to the signal generator (91). A weighter (95) weights the sound signal (y(n)) with the control signal (λ.sub.1(n)) and outputs the weighted sound signal (y′(n)). The generated sound signal (y(n)) is a function of the modified feedback signal (e(n)). The controller (92) generates the control signals (λ.sub.1(n), λ.sub.2(n)) such that a value of the amplitudes of the feedback signal (∥e′(n)∥) corresponds to a predefinable value (Δ).
