Data storage drive pressure sensing using a head temperature sensor and a head heater
A data storage drive includes a rotatable data storage medium, and a head communicatively couplable to the data storage medium. The head includes a temperature sensor and a heater. The data storage drive also includes a ramp for supporting the head when the head is moved away from the data storage medium, and a controller. The controller is configured to obtain first temperature sensor measurement values for different head heater power settings when the head is positioned on the ramp, and is configured to determine an internal pressure of the data storage drive as a function of the first temperature sensor measurement values.
OPENING AND CLOSING DEVICE OF ROTATING CAGE TYPE JUKEBOX DISC TRAY
An opening and closing device comprises a disc tray, a mounting shaft and a jukebox manipulator. The disc tray is mounted on the mounting shaft. A positioning structure is provided between the disc tray and the mounting shaft. The mounting shaft is mounted on an outer circumference of a jukebox rotating cage. The jukebox manipulator is mounted on a manipulator driving unit. A side of the manipulator driving unit is provided with an optical drive, the jukebox manipulator is provided with a driving plate structure and the disc tray is provided with a driving lever. When the jukebox rotating cage rotates, the disc tray can revolve around the rotating shaft of jukebox rotating cage and can rotate around the mounting shaft. With the assistance of in-place bumping post which is provided by a side of the jukebox rotating cage, the positioning structure can locate the rotation of disc tray at a fixed static angle.
Data storage system including movable carriage
An apparatus with a housing which stores a plurality of data storage magazines, where each data storage magazine includes a plurality of data storage devices. The housing includes a movable carriage, the movable carriage configured to selectively couple a set of data storage devices held by a particular data storage magazine to a host device. The housing also includes a motor configured to move the movable carriage within the housing to enable the movable carriage to communicatively couple the set of data storage devices held by the particular data storage magazine to the host device.
Device for fixing hard disk
A device for fixing a hard disk is provided, which is arranged in a case and can install multiple hard disks at one time. The device for fixing a hard disk includes fixing brackets and an elastic support member. The elastic support member is arranged between two adjacent fixing brackets. The number of the fixing bracket is even, and the fixing brackets are arranged in symmetry. The hard disk is placed between the elastic support member and one single fixing bracket, which can quickly and conveniently realize the fixing and installation of the hard disk, save a lot of space, and can be arranged in array in the case. The device has high reliability and good shock absorption effects. When the space of the case is limited, the demand of high-density storage configuration can also be achieved.
Isolated vibration structure for fan bay module and HDD cage
An isolated vibration assembly for a computing device includes a top assembly having a top plate. The assembly further includes a base assembly having a base plate that is generally parallel to and offset from the top plate. A partition assembly is positioned generally perpendicularly between the top plate and the bottom plate, with two partition plates defining an internal space. A plurality of vibration isolators is attached in an interspersed manner to one or more surfaces of the top plate, the base plate, or the two partition plates. A computing device is removably installed within the internal space, generating vibrations that are reduced when passing through the plurality of vibration isolators.
Dummy hard disk drive
A server box embodiment is disclosed that generally comprises an array of dummy HDDs that share a common set of universal disk drive components in a master components module, or power module. Each dummy HDDs is constructed without expensive onboard chipsets that control the normal functionality of a standard HDD. By sharing expensive chipsets in a master components module (power module) money can be saved in building and selling the dummy HDD server. Embodiments envision a power module possessing the needed chipset functionality that is missing in a dummy HDD. The power module can be made to move from dummy HDD to dummy HDD supplying the necessary chipset in a shared manner when data is being stored or retrieved for client or end-user.
Disk array using multiple actuator drives with logical units coupled to active and passive servers
Each disk drive in an array includes a housing that encloses a motor and at least one magnetic disk. The housing also encloses first and second actuators each with respective first and second heads that independently access the magnetic disk. The first actuator is mapped to a first logical unit and the second actuator is mapped to a second logical unit. A host interface of each disk drive facilitates access to the first and second logical units. A system includes a first storage controller attached to all of the first logical units as a first active server and attached to all of the second logical units as a first passive server. A second storage controller operates redundantly with the first storage controller. The second storage controller is attached to all of the second logical units as a second active server and attached to all of the first logical units as a second passive server.
Storage system with actuated media player
A data storage library includes a number of storage cartridges arranged in a rack accessed by a actuated media player. The actuated media player is adapted to move the along a plane relative to a fixed subset of the storage cartridges in the rack to and to selectively couple to each storage cartridge of the fixed subset to facilitate selective read/write access.
