Apparatus with temperature mitigation mechanism and methods for operating the same
Methods, apparatuses, and systems related to a memory device are described. A controller may be configured to predict a temperature of a memory based on a real-time temperature of the controller. Based on the predicted temperature of the memory, the controller may execute a remedial action to reduce an actual temperature of the memory for executing an upcoming operation.

A data storage library system includes a data storage library, at least one environmental conditioning unit, at least one data storage drive retained within the data storage library, and at least one access door for providing access to an interior portion of the data storage library. The system also includes a library controller, wherein the library controller is configured to initiate a service mode prior to and during a service procedure performed within the data storage library, and further wherein at least one operational state within the at least one data storage drive is changed during the service mode. The change in the at least one operational state may be, for example, an increase in temperature within the at least one data storage drive, or the insertion of a data storage cartridge into the at least one data storage drive during the service mode.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONTROLLING THERMAL PERFORMANCE AND VIBRATION PERFORMANCE OF HARD DISK DRIVES
A computer-implemented method is provided for cooling hard disk drives (HDDs). The method may include determining a threshold fan speed for one or more fans that provide cooling for HDDs based upon a target HDD vibration performance. The method may also include controlling the one or more fans, by a controller, to alternately run at a first fan speed for a first period and at the threshold fan speed for a second period, when the one or more fans reach the threshold fan speed. The first fan speed is higher than the threshold fan speed.
STORAGE PACKAGE, STORAGE DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING THE STORAGE DEVICE
A storage package, a storage device, and a method for operating a storage device are provided. A storage package includes a fan, a display device, and a storage device which includes a non-volatile memory, and is configured to output a control signal based on a temperature of the storage device or an indication of whether a memory operation is scheduled to be executed on the non-volatile memory. The storage device includes a control circuit configured to control an operation the fan and/or the display device based on the control signal, and is configured to control the display device to output light with different colors according to first to third temperature ranges of the temperature of the storage device. The control circuit is configured to operate the fan to cool the storage device responsive the storage device exceeding a preset reference temperature, or responsive to scheduled memory operations.
PROVIDING CONTINUOUS COOLING TO A STORAGE RACK
A system for providing continuous cooling to a storage rack, including a storage rack, including a first storage node and a second storage node; a first cooling loop including a first cooling distribution unit (CDU); a second cooling loop including a second cooling distribution unit (CDU); a first inlet switching valve coupled between the first storage node and each of the first and the second CDUs; a second inlet switching valve coupled between the second storage node and each of the first and the second CDUs; wherein, when the first cooling loop experiences a failure, a state of the first inlet switch and a state of the second inlet switch is adjusted to i) prevent the first CDU from providing cooling of the first storage node and the second storage node, ii) allow only the second CDU to provide cooling of the first storage node and the second storage node.
Data storage drive pressure sensing using a head temperature sensor and a head heater
A data storage drive includes a rotatable data storage medium, and a head communicatively couplable to the data storage medium. The head includes a temperature sensor and a heater. The data storage drive also includes a ramp for supporting the head when the head is moved away from the data storage medium, and a controller. The controller is configured to obtain first temperature sensor measurement values for different head heater power settings when the head is positioned on the ramp, and is configured to determine an internal pressure of the data storage drive as a function of the first temperature sensor measurement values.
Preventing condensation in a tape library
In an approach for preventing damage to a tape library, a processor receives a first sensor reading, wherein the first sensor is located within a tape library. A processor receives a second sensor reading, wherein the second sensor is located external to the tape library. A processor determines that the second sensor reading is greater than or equal to the first sensor reading. A processor receives an indication that a door to the tape library is open. Responsive to receiving the indication that the door to the tape library is open, a processor disables a fan.
ACOUSTIC ATTENUATION IN DATA STORAGE ENCLOSURES
To provide enhanced operation of data storage devices and systems, various systems and apparatuses are provided herein. In a first example, a data storage assembly includes an enclosure configured to house at least one data storage device and a fan assembly configured to provide airflow within the enclosure to ventilate the at least one data storage device. A plurality of acoustic waves emanate into the data storage device from one or more fans of the fan assembly during operation. An acoustic attenuation device is positioned within the enclosure and configured to deflect at least a first portion of the plurality of acoustic waves away from the at least one data storage device and absorb a portion of acoustic wave energy of at least a second portion of the plurality of acoustic waves.
