STRETCHABLE CABLE
A stretchable cable is provided that allows an extra length to be reduced when routed in a movable part. The stretchable cable includes an elastically deformable hollow insulation having a hollow portion that is continuous along a cable longitudinal direction, and at least one electricity- or light-conducting wire-shaped body provided in a spiral shape along the cable longitudinal direction and fixed to the hollow insulation to stretch and contract together with the hollow insulation. The cable is elongated not less than 1.2 times when a tensile force is applied, and the cable returns to an original length when the tensile force is removed.
Self-Retractable Coiled Electrical Cable
A self-retracting coiled cable having a variable length along a center line can include an outer insulator sleeve having a longitudinal axis. The self-retracting coiled cable can also include a spring material extending along the longitudinal axis of the outer insulator sleeve. The spring material can hold the outer insulator sleeve in a helical shape around the center line. The spring material can also allow the self-retracting coiled cable to expand upon an application of an axial force to an end of the self-retracting coiled cable, thereby increasing a length of the self-retracting coiled cable, and to retract upon a removal of the axial force from the end of the self-retracting coiled cable, thereby reducing the length of the self-retracting coiled cable. The self-retracting coiled cable can further include multiple wires extending along the longitudinal axis of the outer insulator sleeve and disposed symmetrically around the spring material.
Electromechanical surgical apparatus including wire routing clock spring
An electromechanical surgical system is disclosed including a hand-held surgical instrument, an end effector configured to perform at least one function, and a shaft assembly arranged for selectively interconnecting the end effector and the surgical instrument. The shaft assembly includes a linkage having a proximal housing and a distal housing at least partially received within the proximal housing. The distal housing is rotatable relative to the proximal housing and configured to selectively interconnect the end effector to the shaft assembly. The shaft assembly further includes a wire extending through the linkage having a central portion disposed within an annular groove defined between the proximal and distal housings. The central portion of the wire is annularly wound within the annular groove to define a coil. The coil is configured to at least one of radially expand and contract upon rotation of the distal housing relative to the proximal housing.

A STRETCHABLE INTERCONNECT STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME
A stretchable interconnect structure for electrically connecting electronic devices and a method of fabricating a stretchable interconnect structure for electrically connecting electronic devices. The method comprises the steps of providing an electrically conductive wire having a 3-dimensional helical form; and embedding the electrically conductive wire in a substrate made from an elastic material.

CABLE MANAGEMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD
An apparatus and method for cable management. The apparatus may include a cap assembly for attaching the apparatus to a work surface where a user desires to raise power and/or data connections vertically up to the work surface. The apparatus may further include a dynamic leg assembly for adjusting a height of the apparatus. Once installed, a user may raise or lower the work surface, thereby increasing or decreasing a height of the apparatus and its power and/or data connections.
Selective and controllable shape-memory cable
The present invention relates to a vehicle charging cable having a selective and controllable shape-memory. Selective shape memory cables of the present disclosure can advantageously adopt a different shape and/or forget a passively inherent thermoset shape, for example a spiral. Such selective shape memory cables have particular application for charging EVs and plug-in HEVs and may comprise a body; one or more primary wires accommodated by the body; a first means for biasing a region of the body (such as a thermosetting bias); and a second means for biasing all or part of said region of the body. The second means being responsive to an external stimulus, such as an electric current so that the second biasing means can be actively operated.
