STARTING AND PROTECTING INDUCTION MOTORS
20170373487 · 2017-12-28 ·

A method for starting and protecting an induction motor is disclosed. The method includes starting the induction motor, detecting an initialization fault associated with the induction motor, monitoring operation of the induction motor, detecting an operation fault while monitoring operation of the induction motor, and stopping the induction motor if the initialization fault or the operation fault is detected.

Centrifugal actuator switch with a limiter for spring movement
09734969 · 2017-08-15 · ·

A centrifugal actuator switch includes a sleeve having a collar on which two protuberances are formed. Each protuberance engages a biasing member to limit movement of the biasing member when weighted lever arms of the switch are extended by centrifugal force as they rotate at a predetermined rotational speed.

CENTRIFUGAL SWITCH FOR A MOTOR OF A CLOTHES DRYER

A centrifugal switch for a motor of a clothes dryer is provided. The end of a bracket and the end of a fixed contact piece are arranged in alignment and each has a raised contact. An upper limit piece slot is provided above the contact of the bracket inside the housing. The aligned ends of the bracket and the fixed contact piece are located above the aligned ends of a starting spring piece, a starting lower piece and a starting upper piece. A pressing head at one end of the rocking lever is located above one side of the fixed contact piece aligned with the bracket. The other end of the rocking lever extends outside the housing. When the centrifuge is not rotating, a movable sleeve of the centrifuge slides into the rocking lever to trigger the centrifugal switch.

Actuator, electric motor and associated method

An electrical switch for an electric machine includes body, a stator fixedly secured to the body and a rotor. The actuator includes a first member securable to the rotor and rotatable with it. The actuator also includes a second member, a first electrically conductive member cooperates with the second member. The actuator also includes a second electrically conductive member. The second electrically conductive member is spaced from said first electrically conductive member when said first electrically conductive member is in the first axial position and electrically engaged with said first electrically conductive member when said first electrically conductive member is in the second axial position.

Mechanical calibration of turbine over speed trip

Techniques for mechanical calibration of turbine overspeed trip are described. An electric motor rotates a rotational electric motor shaft coupled to an over speed trip collar of a rotational shaft of an electric machine at multiple rotational speeds. The over speed trip collar is configured to trip in response to the rotational electric motor shaft being rotated at a particular rotational speed. The over speed trip collar triggers an alarm when a rotational speed of the multiple rotational speeds substantially matches the particular rotational speed. The alarm provides a signal in response to triggering the alarm.
