Electromechanical relay constructions
Electromechanical relay constructions comprise an external housing, a pair of switchable electrical contacts disposed within the housing, an element for activating the pair of electrical contacts, and a temperature sensing element disposed within the housing adjacent the electrical contracts. The temperature sensing element provides a signal for determining the temperature within the relay housing. The relay may comprise two or more temperature sensing elements disposed within the housing a desired distance from one another. The temperature sensing element may be attached to a member or substrate disposed within the housing, may be attached to an existing internal structure of the housing, or may be attached to one of the contacts. The temperature sensing element may be selected from the group consisting of resistance temperature detectors, negative temperature coefficient thermistors, thermopile sensors, thermocouples, and combinations thereof.
BREAKER, SAFETY CIRCUIT AND SECONDARY BATTERY PACK
A breaker is provided with a first terminal piece on which a fixed contact is formed, a movable piece with a movable contact for pressing the movable contact against the fixed contact so as to contact therewith, a thermally-actuated element deforming with a change in temperature and moving the movable piece so that the movable contact is separated from the fixed contact, and a second terminal piece electrically connected to the movable piece. The movable contact includes a first movable contact and a second movable contact arranged at a first end portion and a second end portion, respectively, of the movable piece in its longitudinal direction. The fixed contact includes a first fixed contact arranged at a position with which the first movable contact can contact, and a second fixed contact arranged at a position with which the second movable contact can contact.
Connector with integrated thermal cutoff device for battery pack
A temperature-sensitive battery connector is disclosed. The connector can include a connector body and at least one conductor mounted to the connector body and configured to convey a current signal used to measure voltage from a battery pack or battery cell to a battery management system (BMS). The connector can include a thermal switching device mounted to the connector body and thermally coupled to a terminal of a battery pack or a battery cell. The thermal switching device can be configured to provide an overtemperature signal to the BMS by changing or interrupting a current conducted by at least one conductor when a temperature of the battery pack or battery cell exceeds a threshold temperature.
Protection device
A protection device comprises a resin base, PTC component, bimetal component, arm and upper plate which are housed in a resin housing wherein the base includes a terminal integrated with the base by insert molding. A resin cover is formed by insert molding to cover the PTC component, bimetal component, arm and upper plate which are superposed in this order over the terminal within a space in the base. The space in the resin base is substantially closed by the upper plate, the base and the cover are integrally bonded to define the resin housing, the terminal and the arm are electrically connected in series in a normal state, and in an abnormal state where the bimetal component is activated, the terminal and the arm are electrically cut off, while the terminal, PTC component, bimetal component, and arm are electrically connected in series in this order.
Temperature-dependent switch
A temperature-dependent switch includes a housing with a top face and an outer face that runs transversely to the top face. The switch includes a first outer contact area that is arranged on the top face. The switch includes a second outer contact area that is arranged at the housing. The switch includes a temperature-dependent switching mechanism that is arranged in the housing and configured to establish or open an electrically conductive connection between the first and the second outer contact area depending on a temperature of the switching mechanism. The housing is disposed in a metal mounting cap that includes a wall. An upper rim of the wall protrudes beyond the top face of the housing. An inner side of the wall bears at least partially against the outer face of the housing.
Breaker and safety circuit equipped with the same
A breaker comprises: a fixed piece having a fixed contact; a movable piece having a movable contact and pressing the movable contact against the fixed contact to contact therewith; a thermally-actuated element for shifting the movable piece from a conduction state in which the movable contact contacts with the fixed contact to a turn-off state; a PCT thermistor; and a resin case. The fixed piece has a contacting portion contacting with the PCT thermistor. The resin case has a bottom surface provided with a concave portion. In a planar view when the fixed piece is viewed from the PCT thermistor, the contacting portion is disposed within the concave portion. The concave portion has a bottom recessed from the bottom surface of the resin case to prevent the bottom from protruding outwardly from the bottom surface when the thermally-actuated element is deformed.
