The present disclosure provides a thermal blocking sheet (2) for a battery, and a method of manufacturing a thermal blocking sheet for a battery. The thermal blocking sheet includes a frame (3) comprising one or more frame elements configured to resist compression of the sheet, and thermal insulation (4) located within the frame. The method includes forming a frame comprising one or more frame elements configured to resist compression of the sheet, and disposing thermal insulation within the frame.

BUTTON-TYPE SECONDARY BATTERY

A button-type secondary battery including an electrode assembly having a first and second electrode tabs; a lower can having an accommodation part, in which the electrode assembly is accommodated and to which the first electrode tab is connected, and a flange part on an outer circumferential surface of the accommodation part; an upper cap on the accommodation part covering the accommodation part and a curl part on an outer circumferential surface of the cover part; a terminal member coupled to the upper cap and connected to the second electrode tab; and an insulating member configured to insulate the terminal member and the upper cap from each other and seal a gap between the terminal member and the upper cap. The flange part and the curl part are coupled to each other in a seaming manner to seal a gap between the lower can and the upper cap.

DEVICE FOR BREAKING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO A BATTERY CELL IN THE EVENT OF OUTGASSING

A device for breaking the electrical connection to a battery cell (1) in the event of outgassing has the cell pole (3) on the outgassing valve side connected to an electrical contact point (5) at a connection point (4) via a connecting lead (2) which forms a fuse. The device, requiring few components and having a compact design, enables a reliable electrical and thermal protection of neighboring cells of an outgassing battery cell against overloading and prevents the spread of a thermal runaway. The device provides a spacer (6) between the connection point (4) and the contact point (5) that electrically isolates the connection point (4) from the contact point (5) in the event of outgassing and that retains the cell pole (3).

An object is to reduce the overall height and outside dimensions of a secondary battery. Another object is to prevent the secondary battery from being damaged by nut tightening torque. A secondary battery includes an electrode body (15), an outer can (11), a sealing plate (12), a pair of electrode terminals (13), and a short-circuit mechanism (20). The pair of electrode terminals (13) includes a first electrode terminal (13A) and a second electrode terminal (13B). The short-circuit mechanism (20) includes a conductive reversible plate (22) secured to the sealing plate (12), and a reversible plate receiver (25) disposed opposite the reversible plate (22). The reversible plate receiver (25) includes a first output terminal (31), and the first output terminal (31) is electrically insulated from the sealing plate (12). The first output terminal is electrically connected to the first electrode terminal, and is spaced from the first electrode terminal.

The electrode assembly includes a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate and a separator arranged between the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate; each of the first electrode terminal and the second electrode terminal is arranged on the cap plate assembly; the first electrode terminal is connected to the first electrode plate through the first tab; the second electrode terminal is connected to the second electrode plate through the second tab; the shaping plate is arranged between the cap plate assembly and the electrode assembly, and each of the first tab and the second tab is bent around the shaping plate; the shaping plate is fixed and thermally fused to the cap plate assembly.
