Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining data regarding interference detected in a received communication signal, and performing polarization adjusting for one or more orthogonally-polarized element pairs of an antenna system such that an impact of the interference on the antenna system is minimized. Other embodiments are disclosed.
RF SIGNAL TRANSMISSION DEVICE FOR BASE STATION ANTENNA, PHASE SHIFTER AND BASE STATION ANTENNA
RF signal transmission devices for a base station antenna include a printed circuit board which has a dielectric layer, a metal pattern layer on a first main surface of the dielectric layer, and a ground layer on a second main surface of the dielectric layer. The metal pattern layer has a transmission line deformation section for enhancing the ability to withstand surge current, and the ground layer comprises a groove that is configured to at least partially compensate for the change in the characteristic impedance due to the transmission line deformation section. The RF signal transmission device can achieve good characteristic impedance matching whilst enhancing the capacity to withstand surge current. In addition, the RF signal transmission device can improve PIM performance. The present disclosure also includes a phase shifter for a base station antenna and a base station antenna.
GAS INJECTION SYSTEM FOR PLASMA BLACKOUT ALLEVIATION STUDIES
A test article described herein enables ground-based arc jet testing to investigate RF blackout mitigation using electrophilic gas injection upstream of an antenna. The article can be scaled up to actual flight vehicles, thereby allowing reentry vehicles to be in constant, or near constant, communication during atmospheric reentry. Plasma blackout mitigation is an enabling technology that is required to advance hypersonic flight. Example articles include an integral structure that supports a nozzle, piping for gas connected to the nozzle and an RF window. An ablator can be attached to the structure. The ablator can include a graphite ablator and an insulator. A flight vehicle can include an antenna and such an article.
