LOW PARTIAL DISCHARGE HIGH VOLTAGE CONNECTOR AND METHODS

Various techniques are provided for displacing air from partial discharge sensitive regions of a connector of a low partial discharge high voltage connector to other regions of the low partial discharge high voltage connector where electrical flux is reduced. A plug member is mated with a receptacle member to provide the connector, with a seal member disposed in a cavity provided by the plug member and/or the receptacle member. In response to the mating, the seal member is compressed at an initial contact region between an innermost layer and an outermost layer of the seal member. In response to the compressing, air is forced radially inward toward the innermost layer and radially outward toward the outermost layer away from the initial contact region to reduce partial discharge associated with the connector. Additional methods and systems are also provided.

Connector assembly

A connector assembly enables electrically safe disconnection and separation because it is possible to secure an interval between the point of time of separation of interlock terminals and the point of time of separation of power terminals when connectors are separated. The connector assembly can implement two steps of cutting power after restricting a lever in a locked state and then completely disconnecting connectors by additionally operating the lever by including an intermediate locking mechanism that restricts the lever for disconnecting connectors in a state in which interlock terminals of two connectors are separated from each other but power terminals of the two connectors are in contact with each other to disconnect and separate female and male connectors.

ONE ESD SELF-PROTECT METHOD FOR CONNECTOR
20230198207 · 2023-06-22 ·

A system and method for efficient methods and systems for input/output port protection from electrostatic discharge events are described. In various implementations, an integrated circuit mounted on a printed circuit board includes a connector port that uses a first signal pin within a metal shell mounted on the printed circuit board and is electrically connected to a ground reference. The first signal pin is electrically connected to the ground reference though a spring pin located between itself and the shell. A user inserts a head contact of a cable into the connector port. The head contact includes a second signal pin that is floating, but becomes connected to the ground reference when brought into physical contact with the first signal pin. During later insertion, the head contact pushes the spring pin causing physical disconnection of the spring pin from the first signal pin allowing data transmission to begin.
