Contact Of A Connector

A contact includes a cantilever beam and a protection tab. The cantilever beam extends from a beam connected end to a beam free end along an insertion direction. The protection tab extends from a tab connected end to a tab free end in a direction opposite to the insertion direction. The tab free end is positioned adjacent to the beam free end.

Electrical cable splice

An electrical cable splice includes a housing having a channel configured to hold a first signal conductor of a first electrical cable therein. The channel is configured to hold a second signal conductor of a second electrical cable therein in electrical engagement with the first signal conductor such that the first and second signal conductors are electrically interconnected. The second electrical cable has a greater diameter than the first electrical cable. A ground shield external to the housing such that the ground shield extends at least partially around the first and second signal conductors. The ground shield is electrically connected to electrical ground conductors of the first and second electrical cables.

MULTI-LAYERED, SHIELDED AND GROUNDED CABLES AND RELATED METHODS

Data/telecommunication cables that include one or more layers of an integral, bonded electromagnetic shield are described. The shield may be configured to form an electrical ground path.

CABLE SHIELD STRUCTURE FOR ELECTRICAL DEVICE

A cable shield tunnel for an electrical device includes a ground bus and a floor shim, discrete from the ground bus, and coupled to a circuit card and forming a cable tunnel that receives an end of a cable. The ground bus includes an end wall extending along a first end of the cable tunnel, a first side wall extending from the end wall along a first side of the cable tunnel, and a second side wall extending from the end wall along a second side of the cable tunnel opposite the first side. The first and second side walls are configured to be coupled to the circuit card. The floor shim is provided at a second end of the cable tunnel opposite the first end and is positioned between the cable and the circuit card.

An industrial connector has a cylindrical metal shield with at least one slot in the rear of the shield for engaging a cable braid. In one embodiment, the shield also has a cable relief cut out of the rear opposite the at least one slot.

CABLE SHIELD FOR AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR

A cable card assembly includes a circuit card having a substrate including mating pads at a mating end and cable pads at a cable end. The circuit card has a ground plane. Cables are terminated to the circuit card at the cable end each having signal conductors, an insulator surrounding the signal conductors, and a ground conductor surrounding the insulator. Cable shields are terminated to the ground plane providing electrical shielding for the corresponding cables. Each cable shield includes an end wall between first and second side walls to form a cable cavity. The end wall has a connecting portion between the first and second side walls and a shroud portion extending from the connecting portion covering a portion of the ground conductor. The shroud portion is curved to follow a curvature of the ground conductor and extend along opposite sides of the ground conductor.

CABLE CONNECTOR AND CABLE CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

Provided are a cable connector and a cable connector assembly that can reduce crosstalk that may occur between proximate differential pairs at an end of a cable on an electronic device side. The cable connector for electrically connecting a cable (31a) to an electronic device (for example, an optical transceiver or an integrated circuit) includes a metal shield member (20) configured to cover a circumference of a part near an end of a differential pair (30a) on the electronic device side, and the differential pair is formed of the cable (31a).

An electrical connector includes: a contact unit including plural pairs of signal contacts and plural ground contacts between adjacent pairs of signal contacts; a cable including plural wires terminated to the contact unit; a ground bar retaining the cable to the contact unit; and a ground bridge connected at a rear thereof to the ground bar and connected at a front thereof to at least one of the plural ground contacts.

Connector assembly

A connector assembly includes a connector and a cable connected thereto. First and second inner conductor contacts are disposed within an outer conductor sleeve of the connector. The cable has first and second insulated inner conductors. The inner conductor contacts each have a mating portion, for mating with a mating connector, and a connecting portion, in which the inner conductors are connected, with a transition portion extending therebetween. The inner conductor contacts have a first contact spacing in the mating portion and a smaller second contact spacing in the connecting portion. In the transition portion, a transition from the first to the second contact spacing occurs continuously. In an end portion of the cable, the inner conductors are disposed parallel to each other within the outer conductor sleeve and are spaced apart from each other by a conductor spacing equal to the second contact spacing.

CONNECTOR

The first connector includes a first inner conductor, a first outer conductor, a first outer conductor cover and a first dielectric. The second connector includes a second inner conductor, a second outer conductor, a second outer conductor cover and a second dielectric. The second outer conductor includes a second outer conductor connecting portion overlapping the first outer conductor in a radial direction. The first outer conductor includes a first outer conductor body portion, a first outer conductor connecting portion for covering the outer periphery of the second outer conductor connecting portion and contacting the second outer conductor connecting portion, and a constricted portion reduced in dimensions from the first outer conductor connecting portion to the first outer conductor body portion. The first outer conductor cover and the second outer conductor cover have the same shape.
