Method for starting a hydraulic turbine

The invention concerns a method for coupling to the grid a hydraulic unit having a synchronous generator, a runner, and wicket gates. The method includes a step of increasing the flow of water into the runner from a time t.sub.0 to a time t.sub.1 so that the rotation frequency of the rotor of the synchronous generator is, at time t.sub.1 equal to the frequency of the grid, and closing the circuit breaker at time t.sub.1. A sub-interval from a time t2 to time t1 is defined, with t0<=t2<t3<=t1, wherein a sub-step is executed to apply an adjustment torque to the shaft line via a first actuator that controls the flow of water into the runner and a second actuator coupled to a stator of the synchronous generator.

Load re-balancing on a multi-phase power system

A system for load balancing on a multi-phase power line connected to a single phase lateral power line, includes a contactor configured to selectively connect each phase of the multi-phase power line to the single phase lateral power line. There is a phase change device connected in parallel with the contactor and a controller. During the phase change state, the controller connects the input of the phase change device to the multi-phase power line and connects the output of the phase change device the single phase lateral power line. The controller causes the phase change device to output a voltage to the single phase lateral line initially aligned with the first phase and then rotated to align with the second phase and causes the contactor changes connection to the second phase of the multi-phase power line and disconnect the phase change device from the power lines.

POWER CONVERTER

According to one embodiment, a power converter includes an inverter and a controller. The inverter operates in an interconnected operation mode in which a grid is connected to an electric load and an isolated operation mode in which the inverter is connected to the electric load, for generating power from a local power supply. The controller detects a frequency difference and a phase difference between an inverter output from the inverter and grid power. The controller calculates, based on the frequency difference and the phase difference, an output frequency pattern to be used for synchronizing the inverter output with the grid power. The controller controls, when switching from the isolated operation mode to the interconnected operation mode, a frequency of the inverter output based on the output frequency pattern.
