The disclosure proposes that the energy supply device carries out an energy exchange with multiple external components at the same time through a busbar assembly and in the energy supply device the usage units are divided up into strands and each strand end of the strand is connected across a respective galvanically separable switching unit.

Recurring fault protection for wind power plants

A method for operating a wind turbine generator connected to a power network to account for recurring voltage faults on the power network caused by automatic reclosure of at least one circuit breaker following a short-circuit. The method comprises: identifying a deviation of voltage level of the power network from a normal operational voltage level of the network; determining that the identified deviation fulfils criteria for automatic reclosure; and operating the wind turbine generator in a recurring fault mode if automatic reclosure criteria are fulfilled. When operating the wind turbine generator in recurring fault mode, the method comprises: monitoring the recovery of the voltage level from the deviation; categorising the recovery of the voltage as one of at least a strong recovery or a weak recovery; and implementing a ride-through protocol according to the category of recovery.

Method for operating an electric island power network

A method for operating an electric island power network having a renewable energy generation plant, a conventional energy generation plant, an energy store, and an energy consumer, includes: defining first operating parameters for the network for when a frequency and/or voltage of the network is outside defined limits; operating the network using the first operating parameters causing the frequency and voltage of the network to both be within the defined limits; defining second operating parameters for the network after the expiration of a defined time span over which the frequency and voltage have remained within the defined limits, the second operating parameters being defined such that operating the network using the second operating parameters causes the network to operate cost-optimally. If verified that the second operating parameters ensure that the frequency and voltage remain within the defined limits, operation using the second operating parameters is maintained. Otherwise, it is discontinued.

POWER GRID RESTORATION SYSTEM

A power grid restoration system includes a hybrid power plant that provides electrical power to a power grid. The hybrid power plant includes a power plant that generates electrical power with a power drive. A battery energy storage system, which receives and stores electrical power from the power plant, releases the electrical power during block loading of the power grid. A controller couples to the power plant and to the battery energy storage system. The controller controls charging of the battery energy storage system with the power plant and controls the release of a block load of electrical power from the battery energy storage system and the power plant while block loading the power grid during a black grid restoration.

Harmonics of a power output of a power plant at a point of common coupling between the power plant and a utility grid, wherein the power plant comprises a plurality of energy production units. The method comprises determining an electrical characteristic at the point of common coupling; determining the electrical characteristic at an output terminal of each of the energy production units and dispatching a control signal to at least one of the energy production units to control the electrical characteristic at an output terminal of the respective energy production units. The control signal is based on the measurement of the electrical characteristic at the point of common coupling and arranged for damping the harmonic of the power output of the power plant at the point of common coupling, wherein the control signal is determined on the basis of a predetermined prioritizing sequence of said electrical characteristic.

Closed loop restoration

A system and method for restoring power in a closed-loop power distribution network. The network includes at least two power sources, at least one feeder and a plurality of switching devices positioned along the at least one feeder and being in communications with each other. The method performs a radial restoration process for restoring power and then determines that at least one of the sections is not receiving power after the radial restoration process has been performed. The method estimates power flow through each switching device and determines an available power capacity from each switching device. The method then determines if the unpowered sections can be powered by any of their neighbor and non-neighbor devices. The method virtually closes the switching devices to power the unpowered sections and updates the estimation of power flow through each switching device and determination of available power capacity from each switching device.
