OLEOPHOBIC SURFACE TREATMENTS FOR WINDAGE LOSS REDUCTION AND IMPROVED HEAT TRANSFER PROPERTIES OF ELECTRIC MACHINES
Presented are oleophobic surface treatments for electric machines, methods for making/using such electric machines, and vehicles employing traction motors having oleophobic treatments on select “non-target” surfaces. An electric machine includes a direct-cooling thermal management system that circulates a coolant fluid to the electric machine's outer housing. A stator assembly, which is attached to the housing, includes a stator core with one or more electromagnetic windings mounted to the stator core. A rotor assembly is rotatably mounted to the hosing adjacent the stator assembly. The rotor assembly includes a rotor core with one or more magnets mounted to the rotor core and spaced across an air gap from the winding(s). Select components of the outer housing, rotor assembly, and/or stator assembly have a target surface with an oleophobic surface treatment that reduces the non-target surface's wetted area and decreases the mass of coolant fluid contacting the non-target surface.
STATOR STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING STATOR STRUCTURE
A stator structure is provided and includes a plurality of first lamination layers, a plurality of second lamination layers, two third lamination layers and two oil spraying rings. The second lamination layers are sandwiched in between the first lamination layers. The second lamination layer located in the middle of the stator structure is sandwiched in between the two third lamination layers. The two oil spraying rings are connected to two first lamination layers located at outermost sides. Another stator structure is provided and includes a plurality of first lamination layers, a second lamination layer and two oil spraying rings. The second lamination layer is sandwiched in between two first lamination layers. The two oil spraying rings are connected to two first lamination layers located at outermost sides. By means of the arrangement of the aforesaid stator structure, the invention can effectively improve heat dissipating effect for oil cooling.
Method for inserting undulated coil assemblies in slots of cores of dynamoelectric machines
Embodiments of the currently claimed disclosure are directed to methods for inserting an undulated coil assembly in the slots of a hollow core of a dynamoelectric machine. In some embodiments, the method can include positioning at least a first coil portion of the coil assembly around a support member, aligning a guide device with respect to end faces and the slots of the core, feeding the first coil portion from the drum support member along the guide device to insert adjacent superimposed linear portions (LI) of the coil assembly in the slots, engaging the superimposed linear portions (LI) along at least one guide surface during the feeding, and relatively moving the core with respect to the guide assembly device to position the slots for receiving the superimposed linear portions (LI).
Slot cooling fins in electrical machines
A planar member for a stator stack comprises a stator yoke defining a central longitudinal axis, a first surface facing radially outward, and a second surface facing radially inward, a tooth extending radially inwards from the second surface, a first tooth tip extending circumferentially from a radially inward end of the tooth, a second tooth tip extending circumferentially from the radially inward end of the tooth, a first slot portion defined between the first tooth tip and the second surface, a second slot portion defined between the second tooth tip and the second surface, and a slot cooling fin extending radially from the stator yoke into the first slot portion.
Motor apparatus
A is constructed such that upper and lower shafts, which are coaxial, are rotated in opposite directions using a single coil winding, simplifying the structure of the motor apparatus and reducing the numbers of sensors and controllers to be mounted thereon.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A PARTIAL NEST OR A NEST OF CONDUCTORS
The invention is directed to an apparatus (100) and a method for manufacturing a partial nest or a nest (5) of pin conductors (1, 1.sub.i, 1.sub.o) for forming a stator. The apparatus (100) comprises a stator core template (10) with a block body (11) and radially extending ribs (12) forming slots (13) there between for insertion of legs (2, 2.sub.i, 2.sub.o) of the pin conductors (1, 1.sub.i, 1.sub.o). The apparatus (100) comprises at least one ring element (25, 33, 42) being arranged to provide an outer radial abutment face for inserted pin conductors (1, 1.sub.i, 1.sub.o).
Stacked stator core
A stator core comprises a stack and a resin portion. The stack comprises an annular yoke portion, a plurality of tooth portions, and a plurality of slots. The resin portion covers an inner wall surface of a slot of the plurality of slots. The resin portion protrudes outward relative to an end surface of the stack in a height direction of the stack. The resin portion is formed on at least a part of an end surface of the tooth portion so as to extend from the inner wall surface of the slot around the end surface of the tooth portion. A resin end portion of the resin portion is disposed on the end surface of the stack and a corner of the resin end portion is formed as an inclined surface including a planar surface or curved surface.
Stators and rotors with varying insulative density
An electric machine includes a plurality of printed layers arranged to form a stator having an outer periphery and teeth extending radially inward from the outer periphery. Each of the printed layers includes discrete portions of metal and discrete portions of insulation. The discrete portions of insulation define a contiguous network of insulative boundaries separating discrete cells formed by the discrete portions of the metal. A volume of the discrete cells within the outer periphery is greater than a volume of the discrete cells within the teeth such that a reluctance of the teeth is greater than a reluctance of the outer periphery.
