Switched-mode power supply controller and method for operating a switched-mode power supply controller
Embodiments of an SMPS controller and a method for operating a switched-mode power supply (SMPS) controller are described. In an embodiment, an SMPS controller includes a gate driver circuit configured to generate a drive signal for a switch of an SMPS and a current sense electrical terminal configured to receive sensed current corresponding to the switch and to conduct driver discharge current from the gate driver circuit.

The present disclosure relates to an adapter. The adapter includes an input port, a first output port and a second output port, and the adapter further includes: a rectifier circuit having an input terminal being connected to the input port of the adapter; a bus capacitor connected to an output terminal of the rectifier circuit in parallel; a first flyback converter having an input terminal connected to the bus capacitor and an output terminal coupled to the first output port; and a second flyback converter having an input terminal connected to the bus capacitor and an output terminal coupled to the second output port.
Methods and circuits for sensing isolated power converter output voltage across the isolation barrier
A control circuit for an isolated power converter includes a first sensing circuit that senses a secondary side output voltage and produces a pulse wave modulation (PWM) signal having a duty cycle that is proportional to a value of the secondary side output voltage. The PWM is transferred across the converter isolation barrier to the primary side, and a primary side circuit receives the PWM signal and outputs a control signal. A controller determines the value of the secondary side output voltage from the control signal and uses the value to control primary side power switching devices of the isolated power converter to regulate the secondary side output voltage at a selected value.
Single-stage DC-DC power converter
A power converter is provided. The power converter includes an input side having a first input winding and a second input winding coupled in electrical series to the first input winding. The power converter also includes an output side having a first output winding and a second output winding coupled in electrical parallel to the first output winding.
DC/DC CONVERTER WITH PARALLEL BUCK-BOOST MODULES FOR ELECTROFUSION WELDING
A power convertor configured to output power to an electrofusion welding coupler for performing electrofusion welding. The power convertor comprises an array of connected DC to DC power convertor circuits. In use, the array of connected DC to DC power convertor circuits is configured to receive, at a first interface, power at a first voltage level from a battery and output power, at a second interface, at a second voltage level to provide power to electrofusion welding cable means. The DC to DC power convertors are arranged in a buck-boost configuration which can operate in a boost mode in which the first voltage level is less than the second voltage level and in a buck mode in which the first voltage level is greater than the second voltage level.

A switched power circuit to control a common-mode signal. The switched power circuit includes a first switch and a second switch configured to generate switch mode voltage between a first node and a second node. The switched power circuit further includes a feedback circuit that is configured to detect common-mode voltage generated between the first node and the second node by a first signal generated by the first switch and a second signal generated by the second switch, and incrementally adjust a timing parameter of the first signal to adjust the common-mode signal.
Power converter magnetic configurations
Disclosed herein is an improved flyback converter that separates the magnetic components of the converter into a transformer and a separate, discrete energy storage inductor. This arrangement can improve the operating efficiency of the converter by reducing the commutation losses as compared to a conventional flyback converter. The magnetic components may be constructed on separate magnetic cores or may be constructed on magnetic cores having at least one common element, thereby allowing for at least partial magnetic flux cancellation in a portion of the core, reducing core losses.
DIRECT ELECTRICAL POWER CONVERTER
A direct electrical power converter, DPX, that connects a primary port including a DC or AC energy source, with a secondary port including a DC or AC load, comprising a transformer or autotransformer; a first power switch between two nodes, having two power terminals and a first control terminal; and a second power switch between other different two nodes having two power terminals, and a second control terminal wherein said switches are configured to connect the primary port energy source to the secondary port load, through the transformer or autotransformer. The cited first and second power switches are configured to be operated simultaneously under the action of a logic control signal providing a conducting status with all the power switches being simultaneously in an On state or with all the power switches simultaneously in an Off state, connecting or disconnecting said transformer to said primary port and said secondary ports simultaneously.
Isolated Discontinuous Current Mode and Boundary Current Mode Buck Converters
Isolated buck converters can be an efficient solution in applications that deal with wide variations in input and/or output voltage. The double ended embodiments of such converters can also offer improved transformer utilization. Such converters can be operated in fixed frequency DCM mode operation or variable frequency boundary conduction mode (BCM). The buck/energy storage inductor may be placed in series with primary or secondary winding of the isolation transformer The inherent leakage inductance of the isolation transformer may also utilized as part of the buck inductance. If the leakage inductance of the isolation transformer is sufficiently high (such as in wireless power transfer applications), such converters can use the leakage inductance as the buck inductor.
