System and method for reception of wireless local area network packets with bit errors
A method in a first wireless device (WD) supporting wireless communication with a second WD is described. A plurality of wireless packets is received from the second WD including at least a first wireless packet. At least another wireless packet of the plurality of wireless packets is one of a retry packet and a repeat packet of the first packet. Each wireless packet of the plurality of wireless packets includes a plurality of bits and a first group of bits. For each received wireless packet, the plurality of bits corresponding to the received wireless packet is de-spread, and the first group of bits is correlated with a predetermined group of bits. The method further includes performing a majority vote based on the correlation of the first group of bits of each received wireless packet and creating a corrected packet based in part on the majority vote.
Using erasure coding in a single region to reduce the likelihood of losing objects maintained in cloud object storage
Techniques for using erasure coding in a single region to reduce the likelihood of losing objects in a cloud object storage platform are provided. In one set of embodiments, a computer system can upload a plurality of data objects to a region of a cloud object storage platform, where the plurality of data objects including modifications to a data set. The computer system can further compute a parity object based on the plurality of data objects, where the parity object encodes parity information for the plurality of data objects. The computer system can then upload the parity object to the same region where the plurality of data objects was uploaded.
USER STATION FOR A SERIAL BUS SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR COMMUNICATING IN A SERIAL BUS SYSTEM
A user station for a serial bus system. The user station includes a communication control device for controlling a communication of the user station with at least one other user station, and a transceiver device to serially transmit a transmission signal generated by the communication control device onto a bus and to serially receive signals from the bus. The communication control device generates the transmission signal according to a frame, and inserts a header check sum into the frame, only bits of a frame header that is situated in front of a data field provided for useful data in the frame being included in the computation. For computing the header check sum, the communication control device uses a predetermined starting value and a predetermined check sum polynomial.
Memory conservation in delta-compressed message transmission and recovery
Instructions stored on a computer-readable medium include, in response to receiving a new message for transmission, generating a candidate message by attempting recovery of a previous message from the new message and recovery bits of the previous message. The instructions include, in response to an indicator indicating that the attempted recovery was successful, computing a delta between the new message and the candidate message and generating a delivery message based on the computed delta. The instructions include, in response to the indicator indicating that the attempted recovery was unsuccessful, generating the delivery message based on the new message exclusive of the computed delta. The instructions include calculating new recovery bits from the new message. The instructions include storing the new recovery bits as the recovery bits of the previous message. The instructions include transmitting the delivery message to a destination over a communications channel.
ACCESSORY, METHOD OF CONTROLLING ACCESSORY, ELECTRONIC DEVICE, METHOD OF CONTROLLING ELECTRONIC DEVICE, COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
An accessory and an electronic device enabling retransmission of data from the electronic device to the accessory when a checksum error occurs in the accessory. An accessory controller of the accessory determines whether or not a checksum received from the camera and a first checksum calculated from data received from the camera match. In a case where the checksums match, the accessory controller calculates a second checksum, whereas in a case where the checksums do not match, the accessory controller calculates a third checksum. The accessory controller transmits the second checksum or the third checksum to the camera according to a result of the determination.
Messaging between remote controller and forwarding element
Some embodiments of the invention provide a forwarding element that can be configured through in-band data-plane messages from a remote controller that is a physically separate machine from the forwarding element. The forwarding element of some embodiments has data plane circuits that include several configurable message-processing stages, several storage queues, and a data-plane configurator. A set of one or more message-processing stages of the data plane are configured (1) to process configuration messages received by the data plane from the remote controller and (2) to store the configuration messages in a set of one or more storage queues. The data-plane configurator receives the configuration messages stored in the set of storage queues and configures one or more of the configurable message-processing stages based on configuration data in the configuration messages.
VERIFYING COMPRESSED STREAM FUSED WITH COPY OR TRANSFORM OPERATIONS
Methods and apparatus relating to verifying a compressed stream fused with copy or transform operation(s) are described. In an embodiment, compression logic circuitry compresses input data and stores the compressed data in a temporary buffer. The compression logic circuitry determines a first checksum value corresponding to the compressed data stored in the temporary buffer. Decompression logic circuitry performs a decompress-verify operation and a copy operation. The decompress-verify operation decompresses the compressed data stored in the temporary buffer to determine a second checksum value corresponding to the decompressed data from the temporary buffer. The copy operation transfers the compressed data from the temporary buffer to a destination buffer in response to a match between the first checksum value and the second checksum value. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.
Error correction code engine performing ECC decoding, operation method thereof, and storage device including ECC engine
A method of responding to a read request from a host includes: obtaining read data from a memory device, performing first iteration ECC decoding on the read data to generate a plurality of pieces of decoded data, selecting one of the plurality of pieces of decoded data as intermediate data as intermediate data, generating preprocessed data based on the read data and the intermediate data and performing second iteration ECC decoding on the preprocessed data when the first iteration ECC decoding fails, and outputting the intermediate data to the host when the first iteration ECC decoding succeeds.
Checksum generation
An apparatus has processing circuitry to perform data processing in response to instructions; at least one control storage element to store internal state for controlling operation of the processing circuitry; and checksum generating circuitry to generate a checksum based on at least one item of internal state stored in the at least one control storage element. The checksum is stored in a diagnostic storage location from which information is accessible to a diagnostic control agent (e.g. software executing on the processing circuitry and/or an external device). This makes design of software test libraries for detecting hardware faults much more efficient.
Data integrity protection
The integrity of transmitted data can be protected by causing that data to be transmitted twice, and calculating protection information (PI) for the data from each transmission. The PI can include information such as a checksum or signature that should have the same value if the data from each transmission is the same. If the PI values are not the same, an error handling procedure can be activated, such as may retry the transmission. For write operations, the data can be transmitted twice from a source to a storage destination, while for read operations, the data can be transmitted to a recipient then sent back from the recipient to the storage device, with PI calculated for each transmission. A component such as a storage processor can perform at least this comparison step. Such approaches can also be used for network transmission or high performance computing.
