On-demand time-interleaving

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication between a first wireless device and a second wireless device are described. A second wireless device may determine that a channel condition satisfies at least one channel condition threshold. The second wireless device may identify, based on the determination, a time-interleaved transmission scheme for block(s) of encoded information. The second wireless device may transmit the block(s) of encoded information to a first wireless device in accordance with at least the time-interleaved transmission scheme. In some instances, the first wireless device may determine that the channel condition satisfies the at least one channel condition threshold and send a message to the second wireless device in order to trigger the use of the time-interleaved transmission scheme.

Method and apparatus of transmitting uplink signal

A method and apparatus for transmitting an uplink signal in a wireless communication system are discussed. The method includes multiplexing control information in all layers with a plurality of data blocks of the uplink signal; and transmitting the uplink signal to a base station, wherein the number of modulation symbols per layer for the control information is determined using a reciprocal of a sum of spectral efficiencies for respective data blocks of the plurality of data blocks, and a spectral efficiency for a data block is obtained based on a ratio of a size of the data block to the number of resource elements (REs) for an initial physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission of the data block.

Techniques to increase the capacity of a W-CDMA wireless communications system. In an exemplary embodiment, early termination of one or more transport channels on a W-CDMA wireless communications link is provided. In particular, early decoding is performed on slots as they are received over the air, and techniques are described for signaling acknowledgment messages (ACK's) for one or more transport channels correctly decoded to terminate the transmission of those transport channels. The techniques may be applied to the transmission of voice signals using the adaptive multi-rate (AMR) codec. Further exemplary embodiments describe aspects to reduce the transmission power and rate of power control commands sent over the air, as well as aspects for applying tail-biting convolutional codes in the system.

Techniques to increase the capacity of a W-CDMA wireless communications system. In an exemplary embodiment, early termination (400) of one or more transport channels on a W-CDMA wireless communications link is provided. In particular, early decoding (421, 423) is performed on slots as they are received over the air, and techniques are described for signaling (431, 432) acknowledgment messages (ACK's) for one or more transport channels correctly decoded to terminate the transmission of those transport channels. The techniques may be applied to the transmission of voice signals using the adaptive multi-rate (AMR) codec. Further exemplary embodiments describe aspects to reduce the transmission power and rate of power control commands sent over the air, as well as aspects for applying tail-biting convolutional codes (1015) in the system.

Method and apparatus of transmitting uplink signal

A method for transmitting an uplink signal by a communication apparatus in a wireless communication system is discussed. The method includes multiplexing control information with at least one of a plurality of data blocks to generate a bit sequence; and transmitting the uplink signal including the bit sequence. When the control information includes a first type of control data, the control information is multiplexed with all of the plurality of data blocks. When the control information includes a second type of control data, the control information is multiplexed only with a specific data block among the plurality of data blocks. The first type of control data includes acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) information, and the second type of control data includes channel quality information.
