QUASI-OPTICAL COUPLER

A quasi-optical coupling system launches and extracts surface wave communication transmissions from a wire. At millimeter-wave frequencies, where the wavelength is small compared to the macroscopic size of the equipment, the millimeter-wave transmissions can be transported from one place to another and diverted via lenses and reflectors, much like visible light. Transmitters and receivers can be positioned near telephone and power lines and reflectors placed on or near the cables can reflect transmissions onto or off of the cables. The lenses on the transmitters are focused, and the reflectors positioned such that the reflected transmissions are guided waves on the surface of the cables. The reflectors can be polarization sensitive, where one or more of a set of guided wave modes can be reflected off the wire based on the polarization of the guided wave modes and polarization and orientation of the reflector.

Methods and systems for selectable parallel optical fiber and WDM operation may include an optoelectronic transceiver integrated in a silicon photonics die. The optoelectronic transceiver may, in a first communication mode, communicate continuous wave (CW) optical signals from an optical source module to a first subset of optical couplers on the die for processing signals in optical modulators in accordance with a first communications protocol, and in a second communication mode, communicate the CW optical signals to a second subset of optical couplers for processing signals in the optical modulators in accordance with a second communications protocol. Processed signals may be transmitted out of the die utilizing a third subset of the optical couplers. First or second protocol optical signals may be received from the fiber interface coupled to a fourth subset or a fifth subset, respectively, of the optical couplers.

The motor electronics include at least one switch coupled between the at least one power phase line and at least one electric motor terminal, and an internal controller configured to cooperate with the external controller to perform an authentication process therebetween. The external controller is further configured to cause the at least one switch to electrically couple the at least one power phase line to the at least one electric motor terminal in response to success of the authentication process.

Flyback power converter and conversion controller circuit

A flyback power converter circuit includes a transformer, a blocking switch, a primary side switch, a primary side controller circuit and a secondary side controller circuit. The transformer is coupled between an input voltage and an internal output voltage in an isolated manner. The blocking switch controls the electric connection between the internal output voltage and an external output voltage. In a standby mode, the internal output voltage is regulated to a standby voltage, and the blocking switch is controlled to be OFF; in an operation mode, the internal output voltage is regulated to an operating voltage, and the blocking switch is controlled to be ON, such that the external output voltage has the operating voltage. The standby voltage is smaller than the operating voltage, so that the power consumption of the flyback power converter circuit is reduced in the standby mode.

PHOTONIC POWER CONVERTER LIGHT TRANSPORT

A device includes a light source to emit light and a light detector to receive the light emitted by the light source. The device may include a high voltage optical transformer and may be configured such that the light detector is laterally spaced away from the light source. In some architectures, the light source and the light detector may be arranged in a common plane. A photonic integrated circuit may be used to couple light emitted from the light source to the light detector.

Optical coupling device

An optical coupling device includes a light receiving element including a first output terminal and a second output terminal, a light emitting element provided on the light receiving element, a first switching element, a first electrode plate, and a sealing member. The first switching element includes a first main terminal connected to the first output terminal, a first control terminal connected to the second output terminal, and a second main terminal. An upper surface of the first electrode plate is connected to the second main terminal. The sealing member covers the light receiving element, the light emitting element, and the first switching element. A lower surface of the first electrode plate is exposed on a lower surface of the sealing member. The lower surface of the first electrode plate and the lower surface of the sealing member form the same plane.

One-way transfer device with secure reverse channel

A data diode provides a flexible device for collecting data from a data source and transmitting the data to a data destination using one-way data transmission across a main channel. On-board processing elements allow the data diode to identify automatically the type of connectivity provided to the data diode and configure the data diode to handle the identified type of connectivity. Either or both of the inbound and outbound side of the data diode may comprise one or both of wired and wireless communication interfaces. A secure reverse channel, separate from the main channel, allows carefully predetermined communications from the data destination to the data source.
