Methods and apparatus to monitor a split screen media presentation
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to monitor a split screen media presentation. Example apparatus disclosed herein are to generate one or more video signatures associated with video output from a media device and determine whether the one or more video signatures correspond to first media identified based on audio output from the media device. Disclosed example apparatus are also to, in response to a determination that the one or more generated video signatures do not correspond to the first media, determine that the video corresponds to a split-screen presentation having a plurality of regions-of-interest, and identify a first one of the regions-of-interest of the split-screen presentation that includes the first media.
PREDICTING REGIONAL VIEWERSHIP FOR BROADCAST MEDIA EVENTS
Techniques for regional viewership predictions of broadcast events such as live broadcast professional sporting events. The techniques can make the predictions without a direct response variable such as regional viewership data for training a prediction model. Instead, in one technique, demand information for a good or service is used. From the demand information, a derivative demand for the good or service relative to a normal demand is determined. A regression framework is used to learn relationships between the derivative demand for the good or service and features of past live broadcast sporting events. This results in a matrix of feature weights. A non-parametric mixture framework is then used to find a set of feature weights that can be applied to features of future broadcast events to generate regional viewership predictions for the events.
System for the Reproduction of a Multimedia Content Using an Alternative Network if Poor Quality in First Network
A method, an apparatus and a system for the reproduction of a specific multimedia content are provided. The method includes the step of acquiring one or more samples of a specific multimedia content reproduced by a mobile multimedia radio/television apparatus, where the specific multimedia content is included in a first signal emitted by a broadcast-type radio/television network, including the further step of determining an identifier of the specific multimedia content and the value of a quality parameter of the first signal. According to the value of the quality parameter of the first signal, further steps include receiving on a multimedia telephone apparatus the specific multimedia content through a second signal emitted by a cellular telephone network, sending the specific multimedia content to one or more multimedia reproduction units included in the mobile multimedia radio/television apparatus.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO CREDIT MEDIA BASED ON PRESENTATION RATE
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to credit media based on the presentation rate. An example apparatus disclosed herein includes memory and instructions. The example apparatus disclosed herein further includes at least one processor to execute the instructions to cause the at least one processor to at least detect a first peak in a first frequency range of audio data associated with monitored media, detect a second peak in a second frequency range of the audio data, the second frequency range different from the first frequency range, detect that a presentation rate of the monitored media is increased relative to a reference version of the media in response to the second peak being greater than the first peak, generate a signature corresponding to the monitored media, and transmit the signature to a media monitoring entity to credit the monitored media based on the presentation rate.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO MONITOR A SPLIT SCREEN MEDIA PRESENTATION
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to monitor a split screen media presentation. Example apparatus includes means for processing audio output from a media device to determine audio metering data to identify first media presented by the media device, means for generating one or more video signatures associated with video output from the media device, and means for identifying a first region-of-interest of a split screen presentation of the media device including the first media, the means for identifying to identify the first region-of-interest in response to a determination that the one or more generated video signatures do not match reference video signatures corresponding to the first media.
Audio request interaction system
A person can use a portable electronic device to electronically purchase or otherwise request a product, service or other deliverable related to audio programming to which the person is listening at the time they initiate the request. The request is fulfilled by a service that analyzes the audio content to identify the deliverable the person desires.
Content-modification system with broadcast schedule utilization feature
In one aspect, a method includes (i) accessing broadcast-schedule data associated with a channel; (ii) using the accessed broadcast-schedule data to identify an upcoming content-modification opportunity on the channel; (iii) responsive to identifying the upcoming content-modification opportunity on the channel, identifying a content-presentation device tuned to the channel; and (iv) causing supplemental content to be transmitted to the identified content-presentation device, to facilitate the identified content-presentation device performing a content-modification operation related to the identified upcoming content-modification opportunity on the channel.
MEDIA SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND CONTROL
A method of processing media output events, each having a corresponding duration, from a plurality of media content receivers within a media distribution system, comprises: a. dividing the output events into a plurality of segments, such that output events having similar properties are placed into the same one of said segments; b. within each said segment, identifying a long duration threshold based on the distribution of the durations of the output events within that segment; c. and applying the long duration thresholds of each said segment for control and/or analysis of the media distribution system.
Determining Popularity Ratings Using Social and Interactive Applications for Mass Media
Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products provide social and interactive applications for mass media based on real time ambient-audio and/or video identification. In some implementations, a method includes: receiving descriptors identifying ambient audio associated with a media broadcast; comparing the descriptors to one or more reference descriptors; and determining a rating for the media broadcast based at least in part on the results of the comparison.
Content interaction methods and systems employing portable devices
A portable device, such as a cell phone, is used to “forage” media content from a user's environment. For example, it may listen to a television viewed by a traveler in an airport lounge. By reference to digital watermark or other data extracted from the content, the device can identify the television program, and enable a variety of actions. For example, the device may instruct a DVR to record the remainder of the television program—or determine when the program will be rebroadcast, and instruct the DVR to record the program in its entirety at that later time. The device may also identify content that preceded (or follows) the foraged content. Thus, a user who tunes-in just at the end of an exciting sporting event can capture one of the following commercials, identify the preceding program, and download same for later viewing. In other aspects, a cell phone can be used as a “second screen,” through which a user can interact with ambient content—such as reviewing electronic program guide data, or enjoying interactive television features. A great variety of other functions and arrangements are also detailed.
