Independent datastore in a network routing environment
Systems, methods, and devices for offloading network data to a datastore. A system includes a publisher device in a network computing environment. The system includes a subscriber device in the network computing environment. The system includes a datastore independent of the publisher device and the subscriber device, the datastore comprising one or more processors in a processing platform configurable to execute instructions stored in non-transitory computer readable storage media. The instructions includes receiving data from the publisher device. The instructions include storing the data across one or more of a plurality of shared storage devices. The instructions include providing the data to the subscriber device.
Segmentation within a broadcast domain in ethernet VPN
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a broadcast, unknown-unicast, or multicast (BUM) frame from a connected device, where the BUM frame is associated with a broadcast domain, determining a segment within the broadcast domain associated with the device, adding to the BUM frame a segment identifier that uniquely identifies the segment within the broadcast domain, and causing the BUM frame to be delivered to one or more recipient network apparatuses in a network associated with the broadcast domain, where the segment identifier added to the BUM frame is configured to be used by the one or more recipient network apparatuses to selectively forward the BUM frame to connected devices that are associated with segment identifier.
MULTICAST ROUTING THROUGH MULTI-TIER EDGE GATEWAYS
A method of transmitting multicast traffic to workloads of tenants communicating over overlay networks provisioned on top of a physical network includes the steps of: detecting the multicast traffic; determining that the multicast traffic is bound for workloads of a first tenant and workloads of a second tenant; encapsulating one instance of the multicast traffic using a Layer 2 (L2) over Layer 3 (L3) encapsulation protocol to generate encapsulated traffic, wherein the encapsulated traffic includes an identifier of a first backplane network corresponding to the first tenant and an identifier of a second backplane network corresponding to the second tenant in a header portion of each packet of the encapsulated traffic; and transmitting, to a first host computing device, the encapsulated traffic with the identifiers of the first and second overlay networks.
Multi-tenant aware dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) mechanism for cloud networking
An approach includes providing support multi-tenancy support on a DHCP protocol. The approach includes receiving a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) packet, inserting a tenant-specific option information within the DHCP packet, and transmitting the DHCP packet with the tenant-specific option information.
Method for determining designated forwarder (DF) of multicast flow, device, and system
A method for determining a designated forwarder (DF) of a multicast flow, a device, and a system are disclosed. In an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) scenario, a customer edge (CE) device is connected to a plurality of provider edge (PE) devices in a dual-homed or multi-homed manner. A first PE device is any one of the plurality of PE devices. After determining that the CE device connected to an Ethernet link joins a multicast group of a multicast flow, the first PE device determines bandwidth occupation statuses of a plurality of Ethernet links included in an Ethernet segment (ES) to which the Ethernet link belongs, and then determines, as a DF of the multicast flow based on the multicast flow bandwidth occupation statuses of the plurality of Ethernet links, a PE device corresponding to an Ethernet link that occupies lowest multicast flow bandwidth.
EVPN Tenant Domain Transit Network for Multicast Traffic
Techniques for operating a network device are provided. In some embodiments, a method may comprise: forwarding multicast data packets from a source in a first customer network to a receiver in a second customer network; detecting that another PE device is forwarding the multicast data packets, wherein: Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) is enabled on supplemental bridge domain (SBD) logical interfaces of the PE device and the another PE device, the PE device and the another PE device are PIM neighbors, and the PE device and the another PE device communicate with each other and with the receiver using the PIM protocol through an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN). The method may further comprise: determining the another PE device is an assert winner from among the PE device and the another PE device based on at least one PIM assert message, the another PE device forwarding the multicast data packets.
System and method to deliver converged public and private network services over disparate access mediums across regional markets
Systems, methods, and devices for providing a user equipment (UE) device that is associated with a private network service (PrNS) and communicatively attached a public WiFi network in a remote market being serviced by a different headend than the UE device's home network with public or private network services.
METHOD FOR NETWORK SLICES TO SHARE UPLINK PORT, APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
A method for sharing an uplink port among network slices, an apparatus, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are disclosed. The method may include: creating logical uplink ports of network slices (S201); establishing a one-to-one logical mapping between the logical uplink ports and access AC interfaces of a VXLAN in a shared slice (S202); and enabling the VXLAN in the shared slice, and transmitting, by means of a physical uplink port of the shared slice, service messages for the network slices (S203).
MONITORING LIVENESS OF SILENT HOSTS' IP ADDRESSES FROM A LAYER 2 VIRTUAL TUNNEL ENDPOINT IN AN ETHERNET VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK USING PROBES
Embodiments of the disclosure include a method comprising storing a first identifier of a first host device in an Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) cache of a first VXLAN Tunnel Endpoint (VTEP); making a first determination that an age of the first identifier exceeds a defined age threshold; sending, as a result of the first determination, a first request to the first host device to confirm liveness of the first identifier; and removing the first identifier from the ARP cache as a result of failing to receive a first response from the first host device within a defined time period.
Edge device, control method, and program
An object of the present invention is to provide an edge device, a control method, and a program with which the effects of loop generation can be minimized from the NW operator side while ensuring connection normality with the device of an NW user. An edge device according to the present invention physically closes an access port upon confirmation that the access port has been connected to an external device while the access port is in a physically released state and a DF state is undefined, notifies other edge devices within an EVPN MH configuration that the host device has entered a state in which the host device may become the DF and causes an EVPN function unit to calculate the DF state to be set, physically opens the access port when the calculation result indicates DF, and physically closes the access port when the calculation result indicates BDF.
