TEMPERATURE BASED DECISION FEEDBACK EQUALIZATION RETRAINING
An information handling system includes a memory subsystem and a basic/input out system (BIOS). The BIOS performs multiple trainings of the memory subsystem, and each of the trainings is performed at a different temperature. The BIOS stores multiple derating values in a derating table of the BIOS, and each of the derating values corresponds to a respective tap value at a respective temperature. During a subsequent power on self test of the information handling system, the BIOS performs a first training of the memory subsystem, and stores a first set of tap values. During a runtime of the information handling system, a memory controller determines whether a temperature of the information handling system has changed by a predetermined amount. In response to the temperature changing by the predetermined amount, the memory controller utilizes the derating values in the derating table to automatically update the tap values.
Multi-rate filtering in high-speed data channel
A physical layer transceiver, for connecting a host device to a wireline channel medium in which a signal component occurring at a particular time may cause interference at other times, includes a host interface for coupling to a host device, a line interface for coupling to the channel medium, and filter circuitry operatively coupled to the line interface to filter the interference caused by the signal component at the particular time and at the one or more other times. The filter circuitry includes at least one filter segment configured to operate at a first rate derived from a channel operating frequency to filter the signal component at the particular time, and at least one respective filter segment configured to operate at a respective additional rate different from the first rate. Respective delay elements allow each respective filter segment to filter the signal component at a one of the other times.
Device and method for estimating communication quality
A communication quality estimating device estimates an error rate of a signal with FEC capable of correcting K errors. The device obtains a frequency measurement value that indicates a frequency at which a codeword including m errors is received. The device determines a transition probability and a continuation probability included in each of a plurality of formulae, such that a frequency calculation value that is calculated using the plurality of formulae and indicates a frequency at which a codeword including m errors is received is brought close to the frequency measurement value. The device calculates a frequency at which a codeword including more than K errors is received, by using the plurality of formulae each with the determined transition probability and the determined continuation probability. The device estimates after-FEC error rate based on a result of the calculation.
HIGH-SPEED SIGNALING SYSTEMS WITH ADAPTABLE PRE-EMPHASIS AND EQUALIZATION
A signaling system includes a pre-emphasizing transmitter and an equalizing receiver coupled to one another via a high-speed signal path. The receiver measures the quality of data conveyed from the transmitter. A controller uses this information and other information to adaptively establish appropriate transmit pre-emphasis and receive equalization settings, e.g. to select the lowest power setting for which the signaling system provides some minimum communication bandwidth without exceeding a desired bit-error rate.
CONTINUOUS TIME LINEAR EQUALIZER WITH A PLURALITY OF SIGNAL PATHS
A continuous time linear equalizer (CTLE) includes a first circuit path having a step response that increases from an first initial value to a steady state value higher than the first initial value. The CTLE also includes a second circuit path in parallel with the first circuit path, the second circuit path having a step response that increases from a second initial value to a peak and subsequently falls to second steady state value that is approximately equal to the second initial value. The CTLE is configured to combine an output of the first circuit path and an output of the second circuit path.
DATA TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING DEVICE
A transmitter and a receiver are provided. The transmitter includes a processing unit configured to receive a clock signal and a data signal, set a value of a consecutive identical digit (CID) value related to the data signal and generate a modulation signal during a unit interval (UI) based on the data signal and the CID value, and a transmitter driver configured to output output signals having different voltage levels during the unit interval by receiving the modulation signal.
High speed signaling system with adaptive transmit pre-emphasis
A high-speed signaling system with adaptive transmit pre-emphasis. A transmit circuit has a plurality of output drivers to output a first signal onto a signal path. A receive circuit is coupled to receive the first signal via the signal path and configured to generate an indication of whether the first signal exceeds a threshold level. A first threshold control circuit is coupled to receive the indication from the receive circuit and configured to adjust the threshold level according to whether the first signal exceeds the threshold level. A drive strength control circuit is coupled to receive the indication from the receive circuit and configured to adjust a drive strength of at least one output driver of the plurality of output drivers according to whether the first signal exceeds the threshold level.
Adaptation of at least one transmit equalizer setting
Selection of equalization coefficients to configure a communications link between a receiver in a host system and a transmitter in an optical or electrical communication module is performed by a management entity with access to management registers in the receiver and transmitter. Continuous modification of the selected equalization coefficients is enabled on the communications link after the communications link is established to handle varying operating conditions such as temperature and humidity.
METHOD OF REALIZATION OF ADAPTIVE EQUALIZATION AND ADAPTIVE EQUALIZER
A method of realization of adaptive equalization and an adaptive equalizer. The adaptive equalizer comprises an equalizer unit, which is used for equaling an input signal according to a compensation coefficient to obtain an output signal; a sampling comparison unit, which is connected to an output of the equalizer and is used for sampling a comparison result of the output signal of the equalizer and a reference voltage corresponding to reference voltage step; a data processing unit, which is connected to the sampling comparison unit and the equalizer unit. It is used for scanning a reference voltage step to determine range of the reference voltage steps to which step the amplitude of the output signal is corresponding; and scanning a compensation coefficient step, and determining the compensation coefficient for equalization according to the range of reference voltage steps. The solution of the present invention resolves such problems as long adaptive adjustment time, algorithm complex and large power consumption of the existing self-adaptive equalization algorithm.
Reception device and communication system

Provided is a reception device including a compensation circuit and an adjustment circuit. The compensation circuit is connected to a transmission line connected to each of the plurality of transmission devices and compensates a signal transmitted from each of the transmission devices in time division. The adjustment circuit adjusts operation of the compensation circuit, in which the adjustment circuit adjusts the operation of the compensation circuit by using a first adjustment value that adjusts the operation of the compensation circuit and is read from a recording medium storing the first adjustment value.
