Method and apparatus for effecting a voice communication between user terminals connected via a communication network include displaying a menu of country options to a user and receiving a number in local form. Formatting rules are recalled for a destination country selected by the user from the country options. A country prefix for the destination country is prepended to the number in accordance with the formatting rules to generate a formatted number. The formatted number is supplied to a client installed at the user terminal for effecting the voice communication using the formatted number.

Method and apparatus for effecting a voice communication between user terminals connected via a communication network include displaying a menu of country options to a user and receiving a number in local form. Formatting rules are recalled for a destination country selected by the user from the country options. A country prefix for the destination country is prepended to the number in accordance with the formatting rules to generate a formatted number. The formatted number is supplied to a client installed at the user terminal for effecting the voice communication using the formatted number.

The method includes, in one embodiment, querying whether a prestored contact database comprises contact information associated with the destination number in response to detecting a dial control instruction specific to a destination number currently obtained by a mobile terminal and in response to determining that the mobile terminal is in an international roaming state. In response to determining that the contact database comprises the contact information associated with the destination number, the method further determines, according to the contact information, an international roaming number used to call a target user corresponding to the destination number. A target user equipment of the target user is called according to the international roaming number.

A call processing method and a mobile terminal are disclosed. The method includes, in one embodiment, querying whether a prestored contact database comprises contact information associated with the destination number in response to detecting a dial control instruction specific to a destination number currently obtained by a mobile terminal and in response to determining that the mobile terminal is in an international roaming state. In response to determining that the contact database comprises the contact information associated with the destination number, the method further determines, according to the contact information, an international roaming number used to call a target user corresponding to the destination number. A target user equipment of the target user is called according to the international roaming number.
