Workload balancing technique for a telephone communication system

A workload balancing technique enhances balancing of workloads processed by components of a telephone communication system configured to render telephony services over a computer network. The telephony services illustratively include private branch exchange (PBX) services suitable for customers with geographically dispersed telephone service demands. The workload balancing technique is invoked by the communication system to reduce contention among the components of the system, such as telephone access servers (TASes) coupled to a proxy router, when servicing telephony requests issued by the customers, thus enabling rendering of the telephony services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. As described herein, an available TAS is randomly selected to service a telephony request received by the proxy router from a network coupled to the communication system.

System and method for unified call logs with support for call continuity

Systems and methods provide a unified call log for user devices in a device group. A user device receives an invite message for an incoming call and stores first call log information including a caller identifier based on the invite message. The user device receives a status message indicating that another user device has answered the incoming call and stores second call log information including a timestamp for the status message. The user device receives a call information message for a new line between the user device and a device associated with the caller telephone number, determines that the new line is a handover call associated with the incoming call, and stores third call log information for the new line. The user device determines that the handover call on the new line is ended and generates a call log entry including information from the incoming call and the handover call.

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a session management method and an apparatus. The method includes: obtaining, by an SMF, a PPPoE message sent by user equipment, and assigning a PPPoE session identifier and/or an IP address to the user equipment; and sending, by the SMF, the assigned PPPoE session identifier and/or IP address to the user equipment, to establish a PPPoE connection between the user equipment and a network side device. The method is performed after a PDU session is successfully established. The SMF sends the PPPoE session identifier and/or the IP address to the user equipment. In this case, the user equipment can store a correspondence between the established PDU session and a PPPoE session, so that the user equipment accesses a 5G CN through a fixed network.
