A system and method for automatically scanning a physical document and performing processing actions on the scanned document are provided. The system may include a scanning device that can detect a trigger event when a portable memory device is connected to or paired with the device or when a document, including one or multiple pages, is placed on the document handler of the device. Upon detecting the trigger event, the scanning device may retrieve scan instructions from a designated folder on the portable memory device, automatically scan the document on the document handler, and perform various processing actions on the digital document file for the scanned document based on the scan instructions, with little or no user interaction. The processing actions may include storing, faxing, emailing the scanned document. The instructions for each processing action may be stored at one of multiple designated folders of the portable memory device.

An information processing apparatus includes a plurality of human body detecting sensors that detect a user, each of the human body detecting sensors having a detection area for detecting the presence of the user; an operation part that receives an operation by the user; and an erroneous detection determination part that determines an erroneous detection if the operation part does not receive the operation by the user within a predetermined time after one of the human body detecting sensors detects the presence of the user. If a number of erroneous detections of the one of the human body detecting sensors is equal to or more than a first threshold, the erroneous detection determination part sends an instruction to reduce the detection area to the one of the human body detecting sensors and sends an instruction to increase the detection area to another one of the human body detecting sensors.

An image forming apparatus includes a printer engine, a sensor and a processor. The printer engine forms an image. The sensor outputs vibration information associated with a vibration of the printer engine. The processor determines whether at least one component of the printer engine has an abnormality based on the output vibration information.

An image forming apparatus includes a printer engine, a sensor and a processor. The printer engine forms an image. The sensor outputs vibration information associated with a vibration of the printer engine. The processor determines whether at least one component of the printer engine has an abnormality based on the output vibration information.

An image processing apparatus includes a display device, a network interface, and a processor configured to generate a first screen for display on the display device and through which one or more potential errors of the image processing apparatus are selectable, and control the network interface to transmit error information for the selected error(s) to another apparatus. The errors include a first error type for which an abnormal noise is made by the image processing apparatus. The processor is further configured to, when the first error type is selected, generate a second screen for display on the display device and through which reference sounds potentially corresponding to the abnormal noise are selectable. When a reference sound is selected, sound information corresponding to the selected reference sound is included in the transmitted error information.

A pixel sensor, an imaging array that includes such pixel sensors, and a method for operating an imaging array are disclosed. The pixel sensor includes a transfer gate that connects a photodiode to a floating diffusion node in response to a transfer signal, a reset circuit, and a controller. The reset circuit is adapted to apply either a first potential or a second potential to the floating diffusion node, the second potential being less than the first potential. The controller is configured to cause the reset circuit to apply the first potential to the floating diffusion node while the transfer gate is conducting just prior to a start of an accumulation phase, and then apply the second potential to the floating diffusion node after the transfer gate is rendered non-conducting, the second potential is less than the first potential.

An image processing apparatus includes a display device, a network interface, and a processor configured to generate a first screen for display on the display device and through which one or more potential errors of the image processing apparatus are selectable, and control the network interface to transmit error information for the selected error(s) to another apparatus. The errors include a first error type for which an abnormal noise is made by the image processing apparatus. The processor is further configured to, when the first error type is selected, generate a second screen for display on the display device and through which reference sounds potentially corresponding to the abnormal noise are selectable. When a reference sound is selected, sound information corresponding to the selected reference sound is included in the transmitted error information.

The invention provides an image-forming apparatus that includes a printer that performs printing, and a controller that determines, on a basis of settings related to a print job, whether to execute the print job as a print job related to test printing or execute the print job as a normal print job, and causes the printer to perform printing, in which the settings related to the print job include a plurality of items, and one or more combinations of a setting of another item with respect to a setting of one item are set as recommended settings, and, when the print job includes a setting of the another item other than the recommended settings with respect to the setting of the one item, the controller determines that the print job is a print job related to test printing.
