A medium transport apparatus includes a main body that is switchable between a first posture and a second posture and a rotatable route-forming member that forms an exterior of a turning route. The route-forming member couples a first transport route to a second transport route when the main body has the first posture and couples the first transport route to a third transport route when the main body has the second posture. The medium transport apparatus further includes a transport route switching section having a switching member that engages with both the body support and the route-forming member. In response to switching between the first posture and the second posture of the main body, engagement of the switching member with the main-body support changes to rotate the route-forming member and to switch the medium transport route to which the first transport route is coupled.

In a scanner, a medium transport apparatus includes an apparatus main body including a medium transport path from a supply unit, which supplies a medium, to a discharge unit, which discharges the medium, a switcher that switches an attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to a mounting surface on which the apparatus main body is mounted, and a controller that, when the attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to the mounting surface is switched, performs control in accordance with the attitude after the switching.

A document reading device includes: an image capturing member that captures an image of a document; a placement portion that is disposed below the image capturing member and that has a boundary line between multiple surfaces at a position at which the boundary line is covered by the document when the document has a maximum size that the image capturing member is capable of imaging and the document is placed on the placement portion; and a document reading member that reads the document that is placed on the placement portion.

An image reading apparatus includes a reading member that reads an image of a document that is transported, a discharge portion onto which the document that is read by the reading member is discharged, a placement portion that is installed above the discharge portion, an object being placed on the placement portion such that at least a part of an upper surface of the reading member is covered, and an image capturing member that is installed above the placement portion and that captures an image of the object that is placed on the placement portion.

A container apparatus includes a first container unit that is movable from a first position at which a recording medium having a first size is to be supplied into an apparatus body to a second position at which a user is to supply the recording medium and that includes an upstream end portion and a downstream end portion in a direction in which the recording medium is to be supplied into the apparatus body with the first container unit positioned at the first position. An apparatus body of an image reading apparatus is turnably provided to a body supporting portion. Provided is an image reading apparatus including an apparatus main body including a reading portion that reads an image of a document being transported, and a main body supporting portion rotatably supporting the apparatus main body such that the apparatus main body is configured to take a plurality of postures, in which the apparatus main body includes at least one coupling portion to which a coupling target is coupled, and the coupling portion is provided on a side of the apparatus main body. The side intersects a rotation shaft line direction of the apparatus main body.

The present invention provides a smart, electronic desk to facilitate and improve interactive learning. The desk comprises a student desk having a table, a computer such as a tablet having a touch-screen interface, and a document camera all integrated together. The interface displays electronic information to the student and provides a graphic user interface that allows the student to interact with programs or apps through graphical icons and visual indicators. The document camera, also known as a visual presenter, captures images and/or video of documents or other objects placed on the table. The computer comprises a bilateral communications interface to communicate information such as, but not limited to video, between the computer and optional document camera at the electronic desk, and any number of other computers.

Disclosed herein is an integrated lamp and an OCR device adapted to be connected to a personal computer (PC) defining an OCR apparatus. The apparatus includes a lamp for illuminating a work space. The lamp is powered by an electrical bus. And, the lamp is adapted to receive an OCR device, which shares the electrical bus and is powered by the same. The OCR device is embedded in the lamp. The OCR device scans documents on the work space and creates optical data. The digital controller is also embedded in the lamp. The digital controller converts the optical data into digital data and sends the digital data to the PC.

An image reading apparatus includes: a reading unit that reads an image of a document placed on a platen for placing documents; and a display unit that displays part of the image of the document read by the reading unit in a range adjacent to a range, in which the document is placed, of the platen.
