A container includes a support member that rotates into contact with and moves away from a lower part of the upper module. The container configured to receive and store the paper that has been drawn back by the discharge unit. The paper is stored in a region between the support member and the lower part of the upper module.

An information processing method including: acquiring a superimposed image in which electronic information corresponding to an image of an object captured by an image capturing unit of an information processing apparatus is superimposed on the image; storing the superimposed image in a storage; and displaying the superimposed image stored in the storage on a display of the information processing apparatus, and even in a case where the object is not included in an image capturing range of the image capturing unit, the superimposed image stored in the storage is displayed on the display.

A reading device includes: plural transport rolls that transport a document along a transport path, include a discharge roll disposed on a most downstream side of the transport path, and rotate and do not rotate in synchronization with one another; an opening and closing unit that exposes or covers an upstream portion of the transport path; plural detectors that are provided apart from one another along the transport path, detect a transported document, and include a discharge detector that is disposed on a most downstream side of the transport path and is disposed on an upstream side relative to the discharge roll in a document transport direction; a reader that reads an image formed on a transported document in a downstream portion of the transport path; and a controller that stops the plural transport rolls once upon occurrence of a document jam inside a device body by controlling the transport rolls and rotates the transport rolls for only a predetermined period in a case where the discharge detector is detecting no document and a length of a document is equal to or longer than a threshold length.

An image reading device includes a housing that includes a transport path along which a document is transported, an opening and closing member that is attached to the housing in such a manner as to be openable and closable, a reading unit that is disposed in such a manner as to be positioned between the transport path and the opening and closing member and that reads an image from the document, which is transported along the transport path, and an opposing member that is disposed in such a manner as to be opposed to the reading unit with the transport path interposed between the opposing member and the reading unit and that is moved away from the reading unit in conjunction with an opening operation of the opening and closing member.

An image reading apparatus includes: a reader that reads an image on a print medium, and is arranged at a reading position of a conveyance path for conveying the print medium that is continuous and has a long length; a shading unit including a reference color member to perform shading correction of correcting a read value of an image sensor in the reader; a mover that moves the shading unit between the reading position of the reader and a retreated position; and a retractor that retracts the print medium from the reading position of the reader, wherein the retractor arranges the print medium at the reading position of the reader at a time of reading by the reader, and retracts the print medium from the reading position of the reader at an end of reading by the reader, to secure a predetermined space between the reader and the print medium.

An image reading device includes a plurality of readers, an access opening, and a lift. The plurality of readers read an image on a recording medium. The plurality of readers are arranged around a carrier to rotate while carrying the recording medium on a peripheral surface of the carrier. The plurality of readers are arranged radially about a rotation axis of the carrier. The plurality of readers are to be introduced through the access opening. The lift includes a cable to lift one reader of the plurality of readers introduced through the access opening. The lift lifts and locates the one reader at a predetermined height position around the carrier with the cable.
