An information processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, notification control unit, input unit, and extension unit. The acquisition unit acquires a measurement result obtained by measuring a printing medium characteristic and acquires a characteristic reference range of each of printing media types set in advance to identify a type of a measured printing medium. Extracting, as a candidate printing medium and based on the acquired measurement result and the acquired characteristic reference range, a type of printing medium using the characteristic reference range including the measurement result and notifying information indicating the type of the candidate printing medium are performed. The input unit inputs information, wherein a type of printing medium on which recording is to be performed by the recording unit has a first reference range which is the characteristic reference range of the type and corresponds to the input information. The extension unit extends the first reference range.

A sheet conveying device, which is included in an image reading device and an image forming apparatus, includes a passage forming body and a sound absorber. The passage forming body is configured to define a sheet conveying passage through which a sheet passes. The sound absorber includes a hollow portion and a communication portion configured to communication the hollow portion and the sheet conveying passage. A position of the communication portion of the sound absorber is changeable in the sheet conveying passage. The sheet conveying device included in the image reading device includes an original document conveying device configured to convey an original document having an image on a surface. The sheet conveying device included in the image forming apparatus includes a recording medium conveying device configured to convey the recording medium accommodated in a recording medium container to the image forming device.

A sheet conveying apparatus includes a sheet conveying member; a guide portion configured to define a sheet conveying path; a pressing portion configured to press the sheet to curve the sheet as viewed in a sheet conveying direction in the sheet conveying path; and a moving portion movable by an edge of the sheet passing through the sheet conveying path and arranged so that at least a part of a movable range of the moving portion is overlapped with the pressing portion. The moving portion includes a first abutment portion configured to abut against the sheet passing through the sheet conveying path on one side in the width direction with respect to a conveyance center of the sheet conveying member and a second abutment portion configured to abut against the sheet passing through the sheet conveying path on the other side with respect to the conveyance center.

A recording apparatus includes a lower unit having a recording section configured to perform recording on a medium, and an upper unit disposed on the lower unit, the upper unit including a reading section configured to read an image of the document, in which the lower unit includes a medium discharge section configured to discharge the medium toward the rear of the apparatus, and a medium receiving section disposed on the apparatus rear side with respect to the medium discharge section, the medium receiving section being configured to receive the medium discharged, and the upper unit is shorter than the lower unit in the apparatus front-rear direction and the upper unit is closer to the apparatus front with respect to the lower unit such that an end portion of the medium receiving section in the medium discharging direction is exposed at the rear of the upper unit.

A recording apparatus includes a lower unit having a recording section configured to perform recording on a medium, and an upper unit disposed on the lower unit, the upper unit including a reading section configured to read an image of the document, in which the lower unit includes a medium discharge section configured to discharge the medium toward the rear of the apparatus, and a medium receiving section disposed on the apparatus rear side with respect to the medium discharge section, the medium receiving section being configured to receive the medium discharged, and the upper unit is shorter than the lower unit in the apparatus front-rear direction and the upper unit is closer to the apparatus front with respect to the lower unit such that an end portion of the medium receiving section in the medium discharging direction is exposed at the rear of the upper unit.

Image reading device
There is provided an image reading device including a power transmission unit that transmits power of a driving source to a transportation roller and a discharging roller, in which the power transmission unit is configured to include a first gear group that constitutes a first power transmission route and a second gear group that constitutes a second power transmission route and that is configured to include a smaller number of gears than the first gear group, the second gear group includes a transportation roller driving gear and is disposed inside a curved inversion route as seen from an axial direction of a rotation shaft, and at least a portion of the transportation roller driving gear is positioned inside a medium transportation region in a width direction of a medium.

There is provided an image forming device having a guide member that guides a sheet having passed through a fixing device to a pair of sheet ejection rollers, wherein the pair of sheet ejection rollers has pairs of sub-rollers installed at a rotary shaft at predetermined intervals, and a nip is formed by a pair of sub-rollers facing each other, the pairs of sub-rollers includes a specific pair of sub-rollers that nips an end region in a width direction orthogonal to a sheet conveyance direction when a sheet of a prescribed size passes, and the guide member includes a pressing member that presses a curl caused at an end region in the width direction of the sheet on a more upstream side in the sheet conveyance direction than a position where a leading end of the sheet enters a nip between the specific pair of sub-rollers.
